Gov antibody test

Just been offered one as I work for the nhs. It says my kit will arrive in 5 days. Does anyone know if this shows the vaccine has caused me to produce antibodies, or just whether I’ve been exposed to the virus already?
I am double jabbed.

The one I had only showed antibodies from the actual virus.

Was this one from the government that you do at home?

I've done a government one as a user of Zoe...it was just to check if you'd had the virus, the vaccine didn't make any difference.

PlugUgly1980 · 29/09/2021 20:23

Just the virus. Specifically says having the vaccine has no impact on results.

Thanks, I’ve missed that - where does it tell you this? Maybe in the kit which I haven’t got yet?

It told me when I got the results that I had no antibodies from having the virus, but it wouldn't show the vaccine antibodies. I had had the vaccine by then and it didn't affect it at all.

beammeupsc0tty · 29/09/2021 22:27

I just had my result for the government one and the result literally says:

Antibodies were found in your blood sample. This means it's likely you've had COVID-19 in the last 6 months, or had the vaccine.

Good news I've got antibodies but I was bit disappointed it wouldn't differentiate whether from vax or infection

Cookerhood · 29/09/2021 22:37

I think a thread the other day said it had changed from looking for nucleocapsid antibodies (ie infection) to both, which is a shame. I've just sent mine off today & was disappointed to read this.

Just the virus. It was a government one.

Kittyswhiskers · 30/09/2021 07:33

It sounds like it’s changed then to the virus and the e vaccine. I don’t mind either way I was just interested to know if I had the virus myself prior to vaccines. Be good to know I have antibodies though.

Me too

Cookerhood · 05/10/2021 09:15

Just returning to this - I got my results but it just says positive for antibodies either through infection or vaccination. Shame, I would like to have known. Nice to have antibodies though (5.5 months since 2nd vaccination).

Kittyswhiskers · 05/10/2021 13:47

Mine says the same.
I had my second vaccination in May due to pregnancy. I’m ever so relieved, wherever the antibodies are from I’m glad I have them!!
