DS11 came down with cold symptoms on Friday evening, sore throat, cough, tiredness, runny nose etc. Got pcr on Saturday, results yesterday (Monday) negative. All lft are negative. He went to school today and just come home and told me the boy he sits next to on bus, his best friend and two other close friends are all off with confirmed covid.

He isn't the best at taking the tests but I'd have thought they'd be at least a faint line on the lfts if it was covid, so is it worth going for another pcr? Or should I just assume he's got a normal cold and it's just a coincidence that all his close friends are positive?

Colds do still exist! Leave the poor little guy alone.

Yes I know they do thanks. But all his friends that he spends all day with are now positive cases.

I'd test again

If his symptoms haven't changed I wouldn't bother with another PCR but I would do daily LFTs for 10 days.

I'd redo a PCR as he could just have been tested too early before the viral load was high enough

Retest. Dd tested negative with cold symptoms, then tested positive a few days later as a close contact. LFTs aren’t reliable.

I would do another PCR but if that was negative I'd probably leave it at that.
