Positive LFT question

Stokey · 26/09/2021 14:12

Dd2 just got a positive LTF result. We've all just been to have a PCR test. Can Dd1 who has had a negative LTF still go to school tomorrow? Or do we need to wait for LTF results. It's different schools as Dd1 has just started secondary and is very keen to go in.

only dd2 has to isolate, unless any adult isn't double vaccinated plus 14 days.

If anybody who is vaccinated or under 18 get a positive test or symptoms they start their own isolation.

if pcr is negative isolation ends for dd2.

Thanks @kimlo, that's what I thought from reading but good to get it confirmed. I wasn't sure if we all had to isolate while waiting for PCR results.

no, not unless the person has symptoms.

It's interesting reading the above. My family
had to get PCR's last weekend and I was told from the NHS that the whole house had to isolate until we got the results. Isolation thereafter depended on the results (ie, only positive people had to isolate if negative people were vaccinated and done daily LFT's / remained symptom free).

That's interesting @auldmaw. Are you in England? It does make sense that we'd have to isolate until we got PCR but we don't have symptoms. Just dd2 who tested positive is a bit snotty, we wouldn't have known except for the regular LF testing.

In Scotland close contacts isolate until you get results of PCR tests. In England I don't think contacts need to isolate while waiting on their results

you fon't have to isolate while waiting for results. I do think Scotland might be different though.

You need a negative PCR test to release from isolation in Scotland

Good luck With pcr's. My son and I were told to isolate when we had pcr's until we got results ( which we both positive). This was end of aug but we are Wales.

auldmaw · 26/09/2021 15:36

@Stokey sorry for the confusion! We're in Scotland, I didn't realise we were operating differently. Good luck with it all!

It does make a difference what gov guidelines are the s hoolshave had to put own guidelines in place. Ours you have to get and wait for pcr if a family member is positive
