Two inconclusive tests - why?

I’ve just had a second ‘test could not be read’ result through, and am going for a third test this morning. Does anyone know why tests can’t be read, and if there’s anything I can do to increase my chances of getting a proper result this time?

If you have a heavy cold then it could be mucous. Or are you using any meds such as throat sprays. Remember not to eat for an hour before. Contamination is the most likely.

Thanks! I didn’t know any of that. Do you work in the testing service?

DD and I got the same this morning, just went for a retest and the test centre said they had had loads, they think it was a dodgy batch of tubes.

Chillychangchoo · 26/09/2021 12:04

Dodgy tests most likely.

Touching swab anywhere in mouth other than throat?

Yes, a friend said they have been told the same this morning as the majority of people that had been in were retests.

That’s interesting - I did my best with the swabs and haven’t had issues in the past, so I think it might have been a dodgy batch.
