Day 2 test - no fuel

MagicMatilda · 25/09/2021 13:35

I need to take my day 2 test to the drop off box which is about 30 minutes from my house so an hour around trip however I am very very low on fuel and don’t think anywhere around here has any left so probably can’t fill up.

What would happen if I don’t drop it off? Today is day 2.

Thanks! X

I’ve not travelled (I’m presuming that’s what a day 2 test would be for) so excuse my ignorance but can you contact the company you arranged it through and ask their advice?

MagicMatilda · 25/09/2021 13:47

I’m currently on hold to them but it’s been a while :(

Get a taxi? Pricey I guess but gets it done.

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 25/09/2021 13:51

I can assure you that absolutely nothing happens. I didn’t send either of my tests back and just blocked the number and nothing happened. Same as when you go through the border, they don’t really check any of your forms. The £10k fine is a massive bluff, the same as all the other “rules”.

Cornettoninja · 25/09/2021 14:56

No offence @SweetBabyCheeses99 but I don’t think I’d be betting a 10k fine on random advice on the internet.

Chasingsquirrels · 25/09/2021 14:58

What happens if you just put it in a normal rather than priority postbox?
Though am surprised you are 30 mins from a box, they seem to be all over the place here - Cambridgeshire villages.

daisypond · 25/09/2021 14:59

My forms were definitely checked at the border, particularly for the return trip to the U.K.

I guess that depends, we are rural and none of our taxi services are operating due to no fuel.

I assume the OP means a drop box. They are specific to the company doing the testing. I’m in London and there’s only two within striking distance of me, and none were in my borough or neighbouring boroughs.
Remmy123 · 25/09/2021 15:17

No one official even checks!!! My friend did hers day 3 and nothing happened

Chasingsquirrels · 25/09/2021 15:18

Ah right, the one I did this week was just into the Royal Mail priority boxes, didn't realise that there were specific dropboxes.

Nettleskeins · 25/09/2021 15:22

If you are in London and vaccinated not quarantining etc, why don't you use public transport? If it's 30 mins drive it won't be more than 50 mins bus tube surely??

LilyPond2 · 25/09/2021 15:39

DS ordered a Day 2 test but never received it. To the best of my knowledge, no one ever followed up to ask why he hadn't sent it back.

I don't see any mention of the OP being in London? And they also don't mention whether they are quarantining or not.

Not true. My husband was chased on return from a red list country last week (before they moved to amber) he was exempt from quarantine but chased for his day 2 test. Due to his exemption he did not have to test.
myrtilles · 25/09/2021 21:25

I think there is an option to send the tests back by courier if Randox

TintinIsBack · 25/09/2021 21:30

Test wasn’t checked at all.
I wouldn’t worry and drop it when you can

MagicMatilda · 25/09/2021 22:11

Thanks for the advice! I’ve heard a lot of people haven’t been chased for their day 2 test but I’m too scared of the fine to risk it. Luckily a friend of mine works at the airport and was working today so kindly took it for me.

Never managed to get through to Randox…and 119 was useless too!

Hope I can get some fuel ASAP Hmm

No one checks my husband forgot to drop his off and we are 14 days later and nothing has happened. We also had no details checked at the airport!!

Blessex · 25/09/2021 22:15

Nothing happens. No one checks them

Blackbird2020 · 25/09/2021 22:26

We had Randox day 2 tests and the closest drop box was ridiculously far away (M25 service station!). I just took them to the post office and paid £3 for regular Royal Mail. If you have more than one be sure to parcel them all together, otherwise you’ll be paying £3 for each. And really don’t worry about the timings, we did ours on day 3 and sent them at the cheapest possible rate.

No one cares anymore.... I know people who never did them upon arrival in the U.K., people who made up reference numbers on their forms, it’s widely accepted that the whole thing is just a money-making scam.

BunsyGirl · 25/09/2021 22:29

Never did ours. Been back a month from a green list country. No one has chased it up.

Aposterhasnoname · 26/09/2021 17:24

I can confirm that no one checks. For various reasons I won’t bore you with we actually did our day two tests on day three. Nothing happened.

As for forms, I assume ours was linked to our passport number as the border official scanned my passport number in, then said “you’ve got day two tests booked with randox” then waved us through.

Wabola · 26/09/2021 19:13

Isn't it that you have ordered and paid for them that is important and that no one cares if you do them, as long as the order has been done and paid for, how do you know that if you put them in a box it wouldn't be misplaced anyway, there were pictures of overflowing boxes in the papers a few weeks ago

MagicMatilda · 27/09/2021 12:15

I still haven’t actually had the results so can’t be that pressing Hmm
