Lateral flow still positive after 9 days?

Has anyone had this?
Isolation is up after tomorrow and we were thinking of taking the kids out, did lateral flows just to see, out of interest really! Dh is negative, so is ds, but mine are still very strong positive?
Why would this be? I do still feel unwell but I expected to feel poorly for a while. I would have thought my lateral flow would be negative by now though.

You shouldn’t test for 90 days after having covid I believe for this very reason.

I have since read that. But it's strange that the others tests are negative?

My DS had similar. Still strong positive on day 9. Negative this morning (day 12). Pretty much zero symptoms too throughout so not as if he was very ill.

My husband had covid a month ago and was told not to do LFTs for 90 days after as it may show positive results. Whatever it tests for is in your system but after 10 days isolation you shouldn't be contagious so can carry on as usual

It's strange isn't it.

Why test? The isolation period is not reliant on negative tests - it is 10 days regardless so you can go out after 10 days if you feel up to it.

As a pp states you can get a positive result for months after so you are not going to continue to isolate are you?

TheVolturi · 24/09/2021 12:29

Why test? Because we were curious really, and as we are planning to go out we were hoping to all be negative. Just for reassurance that we wouldn't be passing anything on.

You can test positive up to 90 days after contracting Covid so no point waiting for a negative test to go out. It doesn't mean you are still contagious.
