Hi everyone I know there's alot on here about the lft but my dc came home today with what I thought was a cough but now has a 38.6 temp. Achy legs and cough but not continuous. Took 2 lft one negative the other I'm not actually sure if it's positive or a dye run. I don't fully trust these tests which is why I've booked the pcr. Not sure if dc had contact with a covid case as the school no longer tells us. What do you think of the test? Did anyone's look like this and get positive pcr? Photo doenst really do it justice. There's a slight white line just before the pink line under the T but as some of its stayed pink I can't really tell. Thanks.

Looks positive to me . Hope she gets better soon.

GailLondon · 23/09/2021 20:37

I would say that is negative. It’s more of a pink background rather than a defined line at the T section.
Obviously keep checking and you will get the PCR soon anyway.
We’ve had covid go through the house and the lft lines were very clear

Mammaaof · 23/09/2021 20:38

Not convinced that's positive

GailLondon · 23/09/2021 20:39

Having said that, you said the line looked clearer in real life than on the photo so I’m taking back my guess 🤣

Wnikat · 23/09/2021 20:39

Yep that’s positive

Wnikat · 23/09/2021 20:40

I say that having had both myself and my son with lines like that before a positive PCR

waltzingparrot · 23/09/2021 20:41

Positive

middleager · 23/09/2021 20:47

This was my positive. Very clear.

Looks positive

DrWankincense · 23/09/2021 20:48

I'd say it isn't clear. Just do another one??
The faint positives on the tests I've seen have not been pink.

WoozySnoozy · 23/09/2021 20:48

But yeah that's a confusing one can see why its unclear!

Miracle29 · 23/09/2021 20:50

Thanks for the quick replies. I was expecting negative since the one we had earlier was negative. I'm not sure why the background has stayed pink to be honest. The middle bit is pink then slightly darker on the end where the line would be. I'm hoping the pink clears more so I can see if the line stays or not because anytime we've had negatives the pink has cleared and stayed negative for the rest of the day. Fingers crossed for the pcr.
@wnikat did yours stay pink or clear with a line still there?

BellaVida · 23/09/2021 20:51

I would say that’s a void result. All of the positives our family had were clear lines, although some paler than others.

TheGriffle · 23/09/2021 20:53

Lateral flows are useless anyway, I took a lateral flow and a pcr on the same morning, no symptoms as Dh had just come back positive so thought I’d best be sure, lateral flow negative, pcr positive. I don’t think they’re worth the plastic they’re made of.

Miracle29 · 23/09/2021 20:53

I've used my last test else I'd have certainly done another. I'm staring at it that much I'm now seeing lines everywhere. So hard to distinguish cold and covid and colds are definitely sweeping through the schools here but better safe than sorry. Trying to get temp down at the minute tahts my main reason for the pcr to be honest

Miracle29 · 23/09/2021 20:55

@thegriffle I do agree with that right now Grin just wanted a yes or a no. Why can't things be more simple

OP posts:
DrWankincense · 23/09/2021 20:58

Oh that's rubbish.
Yeah it's void, i wouldn't call it either way.
We had one similar but it had streaks across it as well and the second was negative.
Good luck.

Miracle29 · 23/09/2021 21:03

Thankyou. I know you can't read them after 30 minutes but surley if the pink clears a line would still be there if positive.

Mine and my daughters where like that and are both positive.
oystersandcrackers · 23/09/2021 22:22

The temperature and cough need a pcr regardless of what the lft says anyway.

Miracle29 · 24/09/2021 07:40

@abernathie1978 dis yours still look positive the next day?

Just checked on the test I know it's been overnight I just wanted to see if the pink cleared but it hasn't but there's no longer a line just pink splodges.

I’ve had that kind of a result if I haven’t had enough solution on the test strip - usually it also runs quite slowly. I think it’s a void result.

Having said that, if she has a temperature it’s PCR anyway and LFT not recommended on children under 12 because it’s harder to get a good sample full stop and they’re not sensitive enough.

thelastgoldeneagle · 24/09/2021 07:52

I'd say it's positive. There's a clear line in the run of pink. Don't check an LFT after the half hour is up; the result is not valid.

I'd do another one today, but I'd also book a PCR.

MySaladDaysAreGone · 24/09/2021 07:58

Just to add that my 14 year old DS is PCR positive. His main symptom is achey legs and tiredness. No temp no cough no sore throat!

Miracle29 · 24/09/2021 08:58

Thankyou. Pcr today how long for relsuts does anybody know? Temp is still there this morning still feeling really poorly.
