Ill with virus which isn't Covid but feels exactly like when I had it

I had Covid in June and was quite ill with headache, pain in my face, pain behind ears and neck, cough and general fatigue. I'm currently ill with what started as a sickness bug. The sickness only lasted a day though and since then I have the same symptoms as I have back when I had Covid. I've had a PCR which was negative. Anyone else get these symptoms back as soon as they're run down/ill again?

Should also add, I know these are quite common symptoms of lots of viruses but the headache that came with me having Covid was different to anything I've had before and it's the same now.

Since I had Covid my symptoms return if I get ill. They clear up as soon as the virus/illness goes.

Same for me. I first had burning skin when I got COVID, never had anything like it before. Now I get a mild version whenever I get sick.

Long covid is cyclical and my symptoms are worse when I’m run down. It’s been suggested that it may be an auto immune reaction, so even if not suffering from daily long covid I suppose it could linger in people’s systems for a while too, ready to react.

Could simply be flu. Most of the symptoms I had with Covid were similar to flu. Yours could even be a Coronavirus but not covid.

I've had similar as has Dd. Both sicker than we we had Covid (we've tested negative). Think it's just a virulent other virus going around. Feel like death mind, now on day 6 of it.

When I had covid, I had several two or three day episodes of the exact same symptoms, even chills, especially after a busy day doing far too much, on 3 or 4 occasions. It finally stopped!

I've had 2 rotten colds (including now) since I had covid. Both times I felt much worse than covid. I feel terrible right now but negative. I'm a primary teacher and have 3 young kids. Anecdotally there is another nasty cold bug about

Choconuttolata · 24/09/2021 07:31

I have long Covid and every time I catch a cold my other symptoms get worse especially headaches which have been ongoing and pretty much a daily occurrence since I had Covid. Many of the symptoms overlap anyway with other viruses. I have a cold at the moment and feel like crap.

I experienced similar after glandular fever for many years - every time I become unwell with even the slightest thing it’s massive glands in my neck, aches and pains.

Interestingly, I had probable covid in Feb 2020 and that was the first illness where I didn’t have any residual glandular fever symptoms. And I don’t think I’ve had any since despite picking up a couple of colds here and there.

I think serious viruses do affect the way your body responds.
