Tell me why my son of 14 should have the covid jab?

This is not a antivax question. My husband and I are double jabbed. I am currently in bed with COVID. My reason for wanting my kids to have the jab was to protect others. As I seem to know lots of people at the moment who are double jabbed and have or have had covid this reasoning isn’t really valid. If we are being are being told that kids get the virus mildly what are the reasons? If my son could still get covid it doesn’t really make feel more confident about him spreading it to the vulnerable. I’m trying to get my head around the advantages before I make a decision. I’m glad I have had the vaccine as I still feel rubbish so dread to think how I would be without but surely this isn’t the same for kids?

The Covid Vaccines are not experimental and have not skipped trial stages.

I’m fed up with people who are so dim that they parrot nonsense (the same nonsense) over and over.

When people like this say ‘don’t be a sheep’ it certainly is ironic

My son (13) got his jag at a drop-in clinic today. I am pleased to say it was nicely busy with lots of teenagers and a few from other age groups.

Hopefully a responsible parent?

I need to re-read this thread. I know a teen who is against having it.

I am hoping that my daughter gets offered hers soon. So many people I know now have Covid and we are in close contact with my parents, one of whom has complicated health problems.

@MaxNormal

Here's the FDA committee - go to four hours thirteen minutes and have a listen.

soredust no need to panic.

MaxNormal posted a link to an FDA committee hearing BUT the bit he/she wants you to listen to at just after 4 mins is from the public commenting section of those meetings... the guy speaking is not a medic or a researcher, nor an adviser to the FDA, he's just a prominent anti-vaxxer who has already been proven to misuse data to his own ends. The others speaking in the public section are also anti- vaxxers. They are speaking only as concerned members of the public exercising their right comment. Much as you might at the end of a council meeting or something.

People have tried to isolate those segments and post to Youtube but they are (rightly) being taken down as fast as they appear because they come under public misinformation about Coronavirus and the vaccines, Youtube has removed 30,000 such items according to BBC news. The committee hearing in its entirety can remain up as it is just a copy of the live streaming that took place and those false comments are surrounded by the context of the FDA committee meeting.

The way it is being presented is disingenuous. This is how misinformation and fake news spreads.
