Multiple cases schools

Any teachers or staff in school out there help with what happens when there are multiple cases in the same class at school?? What if anything have PHE done or suggested?

Can’t say I’m overly thrilled about the prospect of having to go into class on Monday where 1/4 of the class have tested positive for Covid!

Seems just have to hope that I’m not one of the unlucky ones the vaccine doesn’t work for!

Has anyone struggled to book a PCR for their child?
DD's class have 7 confirmed cases and public health has said the class all need to take a PCR before returning to school.
When I rang up to book a test I was told that she isn't eligible as we hadn't been contacted by track & trace even after I explained the situation!

Book online. You don't need to talk to anyone, and there is an option to say you've been asked to get a test by someone else.

Or a lot of test centres let you just walk in now. The 2 closest to me allow walk-ins (that might be because cases are really really high near me). Once you've done the test they get you to scan a QR code to register that this test is yours.

The way we are treating school communities now is shameful.

There are a range of headteachers out there, so it's a bit of a lottery - some are thankfully trying to keep in person education going, limit the health risks within their power, conscious of vulnerable families, pregnant staff/parents, will notify of cases, turn a blind eye if sibling isolated too, use HEPA filter, stagger break times etc.

Others won't inform parents of cases (it IS a notifiable illness), hold full school assemblies, minimise long covid etc which don't help in person education or health.

If anecdotes on MN are to be believed, all the new cases are linked to schools. Covid isn't happening anywhere else.

My primary now has 3 classes with more than 5 cases in each.
Each of these classes are now in their own bubble - not allowed to mix with other classes inside (though still sharing toilet and playground with other classes).
All children and teachers in these classes have been asked to get a PCR test and teachers have been told to do LFTs 3 times a week.
Last Monday we had cases in school but no classes isolating - it does seem to be spreading. There is a strong sibling link in the classes. First class that 'went into a bubble' has 5 siblings in the second, there are 6 siblings in the class that 'went into a bubble' yesterday from the second class.
Feels like the classes are going like dominoes.

@SirBale

I’m not saying that it’s what I think should happen but it sounds like there’s no point where they send the class home? Just a constant rolling cycle of those at home and those in school with teacher trying to teach both and praying their vaccine holds it at bay!

Really feel for anyone vulnerable or with vulnerable family. Guess this is what living with Covid looks like!

A school local to me they sent a whole year group home. 3 classes with 12 cases between the 3 classes. Not sure how long for. Was in the news a couple of weeks ago.
