They didn’t scan the QR code

At the drive through test centre. Is this normal?

We queried it as we put the test into the collection bin and they said they didn’t need to. Does this mean they used our car reg? I can’t figure out how else I’m going to receive the result! They usually come in by midday but nothing so far and I’m starting to worry about organising cover for work tomorrow if it doesn’t appear. I’m pretty sure it’s just a cold but obviously can’t assume negative. Might scream if I have to do another test 😬

Well if you’ve been vaccinated you already have the computer chip in your bloodstream. They don’t need any other ID.

@Mybalconyiscracking Grin I’ll just activate my 5G and sit tight

Do you have the test receipt from the grey bag that the test came from? I would ring 119 and ask..

sachaf08 · 18/09/2021 14:04

Oh good point, just fished it out of the bin 🤦 will see what I can find out!

From the 4(!!) tests I’ve had done at a drive through in the last month, I can tell you that on one of those occasions they used my numberplate. Was it just you? At that point there were 3 of us and they asked the name before I handed over each delightful package.

sparkysdream · 18/09/2021 14:12

When we had a carful of 4 they just did it by number plate- I was paranoid, but they did note who was sitting where and the results came through fine. Same with one of the others when thee were two of us, and on the other two occasions they used the QR codes.

sachaf08 · 18/09/2021 14:13

@AgnesNaismith ah yes it was just me, I guess if they use the number plate when it’s just one person they probably don’t need anything else. Obviously I’m sure they know what they’re doing but I’ve never had to wait this long before😅 This makes me a bit more hopeful thanks

@sparkysdream oh good! It seems this is fairly normal then. Glad to hear it’s not just me who basically lives at the testing site🙃

Funnily enough the results took longest for us when they used the numberplate. The QR scanned ones were all within 24 hours but the numberplate was closer to 48

JammyDodgersandPeas · 18/09/2021 14:34

They used my number plate this morning as I'd had to give my screaming 3yo my phone to watch Peppa. Seriously hoping I got a good enough sample and that we get a result, or we're isolating for 1p days. I'm not taking her again! Grin

randomunicorn · 18/09/2021 15:11

Did they scan your actual test? They usually scan the QR code and the test barcode to link them.

If they didn't scan the test you won't get the result. But if you phone 119 you can register it with the bar code on your slip.

I had to do this for my husband, we waited 24 hours and when I didn't get it rang 119, it came through straight away on his phone

We've been to the test centre this morning for DS to take a test. I booked it online. They didn't ask to scan the QR code upon entry, they just noted down the registration then showed us the confirmation details for DS and asked if correct. Upon handing the test over they scanned the barcode on the test and again asked to confirm the details. Good luck with the results.

sachaf08 · 18/09/2021 16:21

It was negative 😃 thanks everyone. They must have used the number plate

Glad to hear. I've just got a negative result back for DS thankfully.
