Everyone taking foreign holidays in October half term is surely a recipe for disaster?

Can't see why the newspapers are pushing it and the change in policy about the tests, because to my mind if loads of people travel in October returning without tests for the half term lead up to Christmas, surely there's less chance of a normal Christmas?

Why does Santa have to die though and be be nailed into a coffin? Confused
Unless he’s being nailed in alive? Xmas Shock Not sure what @NannyAndJohn’s plan is for his certain demise. I’m guessing the more drama the better though.

What. Stop playing with Santa ! He needs to come to my house full of Xmas presents … normally he brings holidays abroad !

We've been abroad this year in July and August and just booked fir 2nd week in October before half term.
Holidays are so cheap at the moment , rude not too.
OP, if you're worried, lock yourself away, I'm living my life

I was hoping to go to Germany once the test requirement was removed but it sounds like all the mask-wearing (happy to wear a mask, but not to wear disposable ones) but more particularly having to show a covid pass everywhere you go will be a pain in the proverbial. Might wait - hopefully countries will do what Denmark is doing once they have enough people vaccinated and do away with the covid pass.

In Germany you must wear FFP2, but no reason why they can’t be reused. I do 5-7 wears on each of mine.

A reusable piece of cloth isn’t a mask. It’s a face covering.

Unfortunately I don’t think the Covid pass will be dropped soon… We use them at work (events venue) and are prepared to have them in place all season - so until next summer. I’d be very happy to be proven wrong though!

It really only takes seconds to show it and everyone is used to it now so the queues advance very quickly. Restaurants are a bit hit and miss and some of them won’t even ask for it especially if you’re eating outside. Others require ID on top of the pass so it depends a bit.

Europe has less cases than us. More likely to get covid in London or Cornwall.

Yesterday I was on a crowded bus, all seats taken , one of 12 people standing. I've just had covid so not that bothered. But far riskier than anything abroad.
