Everything now a symptom of covid!

So I've been notified that there are cases at my child's school. Fortunately not in my child's class or year. The letter I've received says I don't need to do anything but that if my child develops a fever, cough or loss of taste or smell to get them tested. But also consider getting a test if they have a headache, sore throat, feeling tired, have symptoms of a cold or feeling sick. So basically everything is now a symptom of covid? The only symptom not included is diarrhoea or a rash. I'm going to spend the winter having to repeatedly get my kids tests at this rate! My work are going to love me!

My eldest hates school and I know if he realises how many symptoms now get him days off school I'm going to have theatrics each morning as he insists he has a headache, or feels sick. At least I can prove he's lying when he says he has a fever!

If a child has tested positive within 90 days they should not be made to do another pcr test. The test can potentially pick up old dead virus particles. It’s madness that this mass testing is still continuing.

I had covid recently. First symptom was a headache. I only developed other symptoms 5 days later. Zoe app says symptoms of delta often include a headache so I got did a flow test. It was an instant positive, confirmed by PCR.
If I had waited 5 days I could have infected several others.

I think the government have not updated the symptom list necause everyone who had a headache, followed by a negative test, would not bother testing next time.

My ds is not allowed back into school for a week now. He had a cold last week but because school are seeing cases of covid with headaches he can’t go back till he has had a Pcr. He has sensory processing g disorder so can’t do the tests. School are refusing to give us any work for him and have told us we are not allowed to come back yet. This will be a long winter for us if this happens at every cold

My son tested positive this week. Main symptom was a bad headache. To be honest I didn't connect it to covid to start with as he suffers from migraines so had assumed it was that, but a colleague had mentioned her child tested positive and that was their only symptom. So did a lateral flow test which showed a really faint line so booked us all pcr tests. Only my son was positive.
We did check on the lateral flow tests the next day while waiting on the results just out of curiosity and the line was no longer faint but a strong solid line and came up straight away.
His headache is away now and so far that's been his worst symptom.
It's hard as so many symptoms can be attributed to covid or equally something else. I wouldn't normally have tested for a headache but it would have been caught when we next did our lateral flows which we do twice a week
@BedknobsNoBroomsticks I suspect you could take that further as a complaint with the school, and eventually the local authority/legal action if you really had to. The official list of symptoms is the only list that can be legally enforced.
I agree with this.

I do find it all interesting.

My son had a headache and tested positive. Lateral flow was also positive. I had a headache the same day (both my son and I suffer from them) and I thought my test would be positive but no, came back negative.

That said, I'm peri menopausal and a regular symptom for me is headaches so I would never be away from the test centre. Which in itself isn't a major deal, it's the time off work every time a test is needed. I very much doubt my employer would be thrilled at me having 24/48 hours off every time I get a headache

@Pootle40

Both my children had cold symptoms the last couple of weeks. No tests. Enough is enough
I have had cold symptons for a couple of weeks - will not get tested. I have been vaccinated. It seems every sympton of any unwell feeling is now a sympton of some variant of Covid. It will not go away - we have to learn to live with it. I appreciate someone who works with vulnerable people, or in contact with lots of people need to test but the rest of us usually healthy mortals - it is not vital and does nothing except increase the numbers of 'cases' and thereby prolongs the restrictions/lockdowns.

I also wont be testing if they are contacts

So many of ds mates isolating and sod all wrong with them. If they hadnt tested theyd never have known its ridiculous. All these kids testing and isolating when most adults are not testing

Enough is enough. If i have to test to know they've even got it then that just ott. I won's allow my kids to be disadvantaged anymore when the testing is mainly done by kids

Most adults are double vax or have refused. This testing needs to stop full stop.
