What is the point of track and trace now?

Genuine question not trying to provoke an arguement. They still follow up positive cases and obtain details of close contacts but the close contacts don’t have to isolate anyway so what’s the actual point? Assuming the positive testing person would tell close contacts they had details of anyway and there is no longer any sign ins at venues so can’t trace the close contacts they don’t have details of anyway

Unvaccinated adults still need to be contacted to self isolate.

Morph2lcfc · 16/09/2021 21:55

yes but how do they know who they are being as there is no signing into venues etc? They’ll only know ones who positive person had contact details for and if positive person does have contact details they are likely to know that persons and have told them anyway

To harass the shit out of anyone unfortunate to have had a positive PCR test

tigger1001 · 16/09/2021 22:00

To give out of date advice. Or at least that's my experience today.

The whole thing seems pointless.

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 16/09/2021 22:00

It’s still a thing so that they can find some attempt to justify the £37bn they spaffed on it.
The whole thing is just a sham to get a few paid days off work anyway, because if you’re not interested then all you have to do is not answer the calls.

shouldistop · 16/09/2021 22:01

So you can find your parcel

NannyOggsward · 16/09/2021 22:02

Totally pointless and I wish I hadn’t PCR tested.

Won’t be telling them anything I’ll be the most boring person on earth when they eventually get me to answer the phone 🙄

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 16/09/2021 23:53

Grin

I agree I think they're shit. They argued with me that DD could stop isolating ten days after she got her test result back.

To harass the shit out of anyone unfortunate to have had a positive PCR test

Which is precisely why after having a positive lft I am doing 10 days isolation despite no PCR.

DumplingsAndStew · 17/09/2021 00:02

@shouldistop

So you can find your parcel
Was just going to ask why Royal Mail would care who you'd had contact with.
Bipbopboo66 · 17/09/2021 00:13

I agree. Utterly useless.
Dd positive. Got the call. Many many minutes spent spelling out very common names.
Where has she been over night.
Dads.
Took address. Not name, phone number.

No questions about the people she was out with 4 days before symptoms.

Was she at school on Mon/tues... Etc.
Then. Was she at school on Saturday?

Nobody she has been in contact with would have to isolate under the rules.
Either under 18 or double jabbed.

I find it awful. Sending siblings to school, potentially, spreading it..

Thats our government.

Stroller15 · 17/09/2021 00:21

So much money spent on such a useless system. The spend has been totally disproportionate. Really hope there's an inquiry.

I’ve been isolating since Saturday and have had two calls. The first was Sunday morning, at 8am. Now, luckily for them I was already awake, but it would also be completely reasonable to assume that an ill person would not be awake at 8am. It was a lady who was in India, it was a terrible line and difficult to understand what she was saying. I was feverish and coughing my guts up and really not in the mood.

In fact, by 8am on Sunday, having tested positive at tea time on Saturday, I’d had 13 texts, 9 emails and a phone call. It’s harassment, and really not what you need when you’re feeling ill.

My PCR result came back yesterday late evening and the texts started at 7.30am this morning. DS tested positive a couple of days ago so we’ve already had the fun of them waking him up at 8am to ask him to hand the phone to us to answer a load of random questions.

We’d already been in touch with anyone that we’d been in contact with to let them know. I don’t think telling them that we had a trip to Tesco’s is going to help anyone very much.

toomuchlaundry · 17/09/2021 08:05

@Bipbopboo66 as an aside some schools are open on Saturday. DS’s school has sports fixtures on Saturdays

Really? My son tested positive at the start of the summer holidays, we had 1 phonecall.

I'm in Scotland and have had a very similar experience. My son tested positive. 24 hours after positive test, we got the call. Fine. Then its been constant texts and emails. 7 texts this morning, one after the other.

Also have been inundated with texts and emails to us confirming we have been in close contact and telling us we need to self isolate abs organise a pcr. All after the phone call where we confirmed we have all had pcr and only son is positive.

Incorrect advise in texts which differed from emails then a call to them to confirm what the actual correct advise is. No one actually seemed sure.

Not so sure I would rush to do another pcr, unless actually poorly. Think we would just self isolate for 10 days then carry on.

What did they advise?

Agree it seems a waste of time at
Least for most of us happy to do the 10 days. We don’t need to be hassled about it.

tigger1001 · 17/09/2021 09:35

@Frazzled2207

They told us all to isolate for the 10 days. Despite the adults being double vaccinated (that wasn't even mentioned in the text) and having had a negative pcr.

Seems to be some confusion when we need to have negative pcr tests done too. This hasn't been asked anywhere else - school just asked if youngest had a negative pcr - he does. But all the tests were done at the same time. Whereas test and protect (or whatever they are called here) said we have to do other pcr tests as they need to be done after contact with the positive case.

Given my son lives with us, does that mean we need to do pcrs everyday? Or is is 48 hours after the positive test? No one could answer and the nhs person who actually called said no it's ok as long as you have been tested and it's negative.

Left hand and the right hand don't seem to talk to each other and are not giving out the same advise

Geekygeek · 17/09/2021 10:12

5 in the household tested positive on the same day. Glad I had minor symptoms as I must have spent 4hrs+ Giving the same information to different people and god knows how many txt and emails.

Process needs a very thorough review and declutter.

BedTed · 17/09/2021 10:14

For me to see where Royal Mail has lost my parcel.
Test and trace, I don’t know.

Polkadotties · 17/09/2021 10:18

My OH tested positive on a PCR test on Monday after a positive LFT on Sunday. He was feeling a bit peaky and very warm. As I’m double jabbed I did not need to isolate with him. I did a LFT and that was negative. I did not go for a Pcr as I have no symptoms

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/09/2021 11:49

They won't be getting me at 8am if I'm ill! I never have my mobile turned up anyway so I answer if I see my phone light up
