I'm probably being really dense but I don't get the figures in the picture (ONS from the Telegraph). The number of vaccinated deaths plus number of unvaccinated don't add up to the total number?
It's still obviously fantastic news but I can't work it out and it's annoying me!

Can someone explain this?

The red bar is all deaths so don't include that then only count the 4 Tallys under that. Does that add up?

Covidworries · 14/09/2021 22:17

Could it be those that have dies after 29 days

PaddleBlue · 14/09/2021 22:17

I think with some patients they don’t know exactly if vaccinated or unvaccinated which means data is uneven - think I read that somewhere?

bumbleymummy · 14/09/2021 22:53

Some were before 21 days of first dose?

MereDintofPandiculation · 14/09/2021 22:56

The figures are
No vaccination
two doses and it's more than 21 days since second dose.

But you haven't got vaccinated but less than 21 days from 2nd dose, or one dose only.

So you wouldn't expect them to add up to add up to the total (which would be made up of unvaccinated, one dose only, vaccinated but 21 days or less since second dose, and over 21 days since second )dose)

You know in the time it took you to post this you could have added 39,000 to 8,000 and concluded that it doesn't add up to 51,000
Tryingtryingandtrying · 14/09/2021 22:59

The average age of double jabbed deaths was 84, wasn't the average before jabs 82 or something anyway?

CaledonianSleeper · 14/09/2021 23:01

The figures below the red bars are just some of the categories that make up the total in the red bar, not all possible categories. So as PP says, they’ve not broken down for example the number who died less than 21 days after being double vaccinated etc.

Tryingtryingandtrying · 14/09/2021 23:01

Is there any info on the data for say April to July? Noone was double jabbed really before April were they?

Tryingtryingandtrying · 14/09/2021 23:02

What does the rest of the last sentence say? 99.51% of people...

RandomWordGenerator · 14/09/2021 23:08

The elderly in care homes were nearly all double jabbed by March, from memory.

But I agree this is a flaw in the timing used for this, as the largest number of deaths were in Jan and Feb when very few people had been double jabbed, so it’s not a fair comparison.

It’s very frustrating as surely there is good data from the a period that gives a fair comparison.

@MereDintofPandiculation thank you!! That's it.

And you know you are a jumped up twat?

I was tired after working 2 jobs and just politely replying in bed and didn't even read all the figures, I just looked under and suggested something, why not say to the OP she could have used Google herself. Honestly, why are you even bothered?

Anyone else look at those figures and the time frame and think hmmmm? The data is correct but the context seems like cherry picking at its finest.

Sugarandtime · 15/09/2021 10:56

Could it be the unlinked cases as shown here maybe.
This is from Public Heath England February-end of Aug. Technical briefing report.
