Another isolate or not question. Sorry

We are in this situation for the first time, partly through luck, partly because we've been extremely careful because I'm immunosuppressed.
Primary school dc has a classmate who got positive PCR result today. They sit near each other and were outside together at the weekend. I can get DC tested as a close contact I think even though they are symptom free. We're in England.
My question is does a primary age child who isn't showing symptoms have to isolate between getting a PCR and getting the result or do they go to school while waiting?

They are fine to go to school now. However if you are concerned just tell school they have 'symptoms' and wait for results.

They don’t have to isolate whilst waiting for results, as long as symptom free. Some parents choose to isolate until they get results, but it will depend on your school if that’s marked as an authorised absence or not.

Thanks both. I did think that might be the case. I don't want to annoy school as long as they're working with me so will stick to the rules.
