LFT and PCR don't match (but not in the expected way). Any experience?

My DS (13) did a positive LFT on Sunday 6th so I took him for a PCR the next day which was also positive. He was rough for a couple of days but is OK now and going back to school tomorrow.

I started to feel rough Saturday night (11th) but LFT was negative. Sunday morning felt awful and LFT was positive so booked a PCR for that morning. As you're supposed to. Result came in that night - negative.. Still felt rough so did another LFT - positive (within a second of squinting the goo on).

Booked another PCR for Mon am as assumed first one must have been wrong. Another positive LFT Mon am but PCR was negative again.

So three positive LFTs, all the symptoms but two negative PCRs. I'm still following all the guidance as if I have it and will ring 119 when they open. But wondered if anyone else had experienced the same thing?

Probably a nasty cold. My DS (18) is still coughing quite heavily from the cold he developed on the 15th August and PCR (and LFT, but I don't really trust them) confirmed he was negative for Covid 19. He was in bed for a few days, so it was more like the flu in its intensity.

Right so I've just called 119. Apparently LFTs are ineffective when you are symptomatic. Symptoms = PCR. Because I have now had two negative PCRs, I do not have covid and do not need to isolate. However I need to call my doc if I'm worried as it might be something else. I have to put my negative PCR result into the app which will take off the isolation requirement.

I still feel pants though so not going anywhere in a hurry. But yay for vaccinations eh as it's clearly protected me 🥳🥳
