I don't imagine this information is readily available due to data protection as opposed to anything sinister as has been suggested to me today.

Conversation went like this

A - you would be shocked if you knew the ages of people in hospital in Scotland with covid

Me- really, where do I find that information?

A - oh you can't, apparently it's being covered up so people don't panic

Me Hmm

I hate bullshit like this based on nods winks and rumours but it's made me wonder if this is ever published anywhere even retrospectively?

I should add this person is not a reliable source, it was very much 'this person who knows my neighbours sons brother is high up in xyz'

It has made me curious about the actual state of affairs, it was a stat that hasn't crossed my mind before.

I doubt wee nippy would cover it up, it would definitely be published to convince people to have vaccinations and 'remain cautious'

Deaths by age group in Scotland in the past week. And remember it's 'died with Covid'. I'd hazard a guess that a lot of the over 85s were in hospital dying of something else.

This page shows hospital admissions for Covid by age group per 100,000. You can't see actual numbers but you can see that hospital admissions remain proportionaly highest in the oldest age groups.

A little bit true from ICNARC, but data cover the period when double jabbed was mostly old people, so the only people most likely to have infection were younger. I'm not finding any data that cover say the period from 1 July 2021 onwards only.

Remember that people age 80+ often not admitted to critical care. ICU admission data inherently tend to exclude very old people because critical care isn't right for them.

Median age of those admitted to critical care before 1.5.21: 60 yrs
Median age of those admitted to critical care after 1.5.21: 52 yrs
