Symptomatic and LF Tests

Is anybody else still finding people thinking that LF tests "don't work" on symptomatic people?! I honestly don't get what's so hard to understand?

I've just spent ages explaining to yet another person in really simple terms that they do work but just not as accurate blah, blah. His answer? "Yeah but how can they not pick up on Covid in people with symptoms?". Aaaaarrrghhh! No wonder this country has such high cases Hmm

Rant over!

They do work (sometimes) but aren't accurate enough to trust if they say you are negative when you have symptoms. They have a high false negative rate so if you have symptoms you need a PCR

Yes I know this... but so many people still don't it seems. And it doesn't seem to matter how plainly I spell it out they just can't seem to grasp it Confused

Can't argue with stupid...

Yep. Astounding.

I know. I keep trying to explain they are literally a chemical reaction to the presence of the virus in high enough quantities to trigger the test. They can't tell if you have a cough....

The very few amount who don't look at me as if I haven't understood that the test literally will not work on people that have symptoms then say "well if they aren't accurate, what's the point in them?". Give me strength 😣
