Positive LFT negative PCR

Hi all
I got a positive lateral flow test this morning. I have a slight cough but no other symptoms. I test weekly for my job. I have booked a PCR as per the guidance but just wondering if there is any possibility that my PCR will be negative? Has any one else had a positive LFT and negative PCR?

Yes, there is a chance that it will be negative. LFTs aren't as accurate as PCR tests, which is why LFTs are used for screening and PCR for diagnosis and why any LFT needs to be confirmed by a PCR test (and why a negative LFT doesn't necessarily mean that you are definitely negative!)

I currently know someone (child) who has had 5 +LFT & PCR was negative. Awaiting results for 2nd PCR.
Definite cough & temperature since Friday 🤷‍♀️

4 LFTs since weds and negative PCR. No symptoms really 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for your replies. Fingers crossed the PCR is negative then. I have a lot of important tasks in work this week that I don’t want to miss!

I’m having a similar problem with my DS how did their 2nd PCR go? No temperature or cough here just a snotty nose 🤯
