Nasal only pcr accuracy

My 11 year old had swollen tonsils and sore throat last night. Today has been caughing, I gave her a lft (negative) and she has just been for a pcr.
My DH took her, his first time and was told to only to swab both nostrils as under 12s do not get throats done. Any time I've tested my children I have done throat and nose, I thought that it was only if it was to difficult for the child that you didnt do the throat.
If and hopefully her test comes back negative will it be as reliable?
Thanks

We do both nostrils rather than throat and nostril. I think its OK.

Yes, I think both nostrils is fine.

I did just nostrils with my 5 year old and tbh even that was only just managed through the screaming. I was convinced it wouldn’t be done well enough but it came up positive.

Thank you I can only imagine how hard it would be on a 5 year old

According to the NHS website, if you can't do nose and throat, doing both nostrils is acceptable.
