Temperature still not going down

I started with Covid symptoms on Sunday night, temperature of nearly 40.

Went for PCR on Monday which was positive. Have been really unwell with it, but managing ok and although up and down, the last day or so I’ve felt a bit better.

However it’s now nearly a week on and my temperature is still not consistently down- not as high (obviously) as it was, but still reaching 38.5 reasonably often.

Did anyone else have a temperature that lasted like this? Is it also normal to feel better for a while and then feel awful again? I still have several days left of self isolation so no worries about work etc yet, but I still don’t feel great.

Double vaccinated. Obviously very grateful I’ve not been ‘worse’ or in hospital though.

Mine took 10 days to go back to normal. Started really high like yours for first 48 hours, then lower but still consistently high for me, up to about 38 or so for a full 10 days. I'm at 2 weeks now and would say I'm 90% better, still have cough and still tired, but otherwise ok. I'm also double vaccinated.

My friend ran a high temp for 10 days straight w COVID. I've heard of people with fevers lasting longer than that too. I think you just have to wait (and bring it down w paracetamol and ibruphrophen in the meantime).

Dp is day 8 and still gets fever and temperature. Think it can take a while for some people. Keep up paracetamol and fluids. Stay cool. Hope you feel better soon.

Hey I have just passed day 10 since I tested positive- yes I admit, I feel better as each day goes but I have noticed that I am getting really bad sweats - like hot flushes- but coming from my head and dripping all over my body to the point I have to change my clothes… I don’t know what to do about this but I didn’t have it before Covid- I wake up feeling very fatigued…yesterday I tested negative- I can’t get appointment with gp for weeks

Taking Panadol and Ibuprofen might bring the temp down and make you feel better temporarily but it could prolong the infection.

@TeloMere thanks for posting that. I specifically asked about fever reduction when I had COVID and was advised to do it. The doctor said that whilst fever could be useful in the fight against bacterial and amoeobic infection it was of little use against viruses and it was better to get the fever down and take some rest. So I guess opinions vary.
