3rd Jab

tootiredtospeak · 10/09/2021 17:48

My DP has been for his 3rd jab today text from the doctors and had it done there says there was a big queue. He is immunocompromised but not seriously ie cancer. He takes medication for inflammatory arthritis. My grandad who is 87 also takes medication for rheumatoid arthritis and he has heard nothing. When you search the news it says 3rd jabs haven't been signed off yet. Has anyone else had a 3rd one?

Yes I know, @MossyBottom. I'm in the severely immune compromised group of the 500,000. That's what we're wondering about - where's our 3rd primary jab gone?

And if GPs won't or can't discuss it / understand it, where's the info?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/09/2021 12:10

I haven't phoned pharmacies yet Spindle. That's a good idea. Locally none of them have jabs available on their website. Boots don't have any at all available locally.

I have found an interesting study relevant to many of us. It's a pre-print, so not peer reviewed yet.

But my DP is not severely immunocompromised he takes medication for inflammatory arthritis he used to take methotrexate and now takes sulfodine but without any steroids added in.

SpindleWhorl · 15/09/2021 12:31

Thanks for the pre-print link, BadKitten. Just going to read it now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/09/2021 14:06

tootired - if he was taking a dose of greater than 20mg oral methotrexate when he had the jabs, he qualifies. My consultant says that 20mg of injected methotrexate is equivalent to 25mg of oral, but I don't know if that is a finger in the air calc.

MossyBottom · 15/09/2021 14:29

I think he does count.

Link here to what counts as severely immunocompromised.

MossyBottom · 15/09/2021 14:31

Sorry, I should say that if he recently changed treatment from methotrexate he counts.

NotMyCat · 15/09/2021 14:56

Haven't heard anything so I've booked my flu jab

tootiredtospeak · 16/09/2021 11:50

Yeah I guess so although my 87 year old grandad who still takes methotrexate hasn't heard a thing makes no sense at all

OP posts:
nether · 16/09/2021 16:29

It makes zero sense

I've been on the phone today to 119 - can't help, have to be notified by GP

Called GP, still awaiting guidance

So government announces today that NHS and care staff have started getting third jabs today, and all over 50s/CEV start next week.

So the 500,000 most immune compromised will be at the same time as healthy 50 year olds, or behind them if younger.

All smoke and mirrors. I am very cross about this. An announcement 2 weeks ago that makes it look as if there is priority for the very most at risk. Then a complete admin fail that means the announcement was worthless.

RuthW · 17/09/2021 12:15

We haven't started ours yet and we can't call everyone at once when we do. Be patient. It's only been four days.

Janie2021 · 17/09/2021 12:57

It has been SIXTEEN days. Not four. We’re not talking about the boosters. We’re talking about the third primary dose. They’re different things. Check chapter 14a of The Green Book, specifically page 20.
PurplePumpkinDream · 17/09/2021 13:12

What about those of us over 50, who have had the jabs plus recently positive for Covid?

onemouseplace · 17/09/2021 13:31

I'm immunocompromised and in the 500,000 and got the text on Tuesday and had my 3rd dose vaccination on Wednesday as there was a walk-in clinic I could get to (with a massive queue - unsurprisingly).

TupilaLilium · 17/09/2021 13:35

I'll get my 3rd Covid next week as a front line staff in Wales. I had a completely surprising text last night inviting me. I've also booked flu jab at boots at end of month. I always do flu jab at boots because everything to do with the GP is such a faff.

nether · 17/09/2021 16:06

Glad it's started somewhere - the lack of information even a full fortnight after the announcement is getting frustrating

@Janie2021 - wouid you be kind and check green book? As this is a third primary dose, do the 500,000 also get a booster dose? And if so, at what interval after 3rd primary?

As it's flu jabs tomorrow, they can't have 3rd jab for another week anyhow, but if still not called by end of next week, would it be helpful to quote that reference from green book at the GP?

alligatorpeardrop · 17/09/2021 16:40

I've had mine, got a text about it on Friday had it on Saturday, I'm in a vulnerable cohort it said. I'm in south London if that means anything and am 44.

alligatorpeardrop · 17/09/2021 16:42

I have Lupus, a blood clotting disorder and heart condition btw

enterparentone · 17/09/2021 22:50

@alligatorpeardrop which CCG are you please? I've been told SW London aren't ready yet. Both kids classes have cases, I feel sick a sitting duck!

alligatorpeardrop · 17/09/2021 23:01

Presumably NHS South East London as am in Lambeth

PheasantsNest · 21/09/2021 20:23

Has anyone got anywhere with this? My GP don't seem to know anything about it. They keep referring to boosters and tell me I must wait my turn. My CCG won't return my calls. It's 3 weeks today since this was announced.

nether · 21/09/2021 21:18

Same boat for my family member - very frustrating indeed

It really seems like an announcement to let people think they were doing something for the most vulnerable 500,000 but without them actually doing anything.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/09/2021 21:27

I've got nowhere either.

Choux · 21/09/2021 22:03

@ILookAtTheFloor

My nan is 94 and had her 2nd jab in January (3 week gap) she better be at the front of the queue!
I booked my parents a booster today using the regular NHS app.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

Not sure if third jabs can be booked on it though.
