Allergic to LFT???

So last year I suffered more sore throats than I have ever done in my whole life! And then summer holidays no sore throats! This week I’ve had to do 2 LFT because we are back to school and boom my throat is so sore I can barely swollen and it’s exactly where I rubbed the swabs!

Anyone else got this? Could I be allergic? Shall I just swab my nose from now on as that doesn’t seem to cause a problem! Or is it a coincidence?

Lots of them are nose only now.

How hard are you rubbing?!

If you were allergic surely you’d have an allergic reaction up your nose as well?

It does sound like you are having a reaction. How long does the sore throat last?

If doing nose only is an option, I would try that.

Well I did think that about my nose!

I’m not sure how hard, just twirling it around 10 times! But honestly my throat is awful, I can barely swallow my own saliva! And without doing the testing I had no problems for 5 weeks!

I’d just swab your nose(Both nostrils). Isn’t that the advice for children if they can’t do the throat bit? It’s better than not testing at all.

I only ever do my nose as that's what an official tester did for me for an LFT. The newer tests say nose only anyway.

That might be a problem if you’ve not been doing them right. Didn’t you see they were different style tests? Hopefully this will resolve your problems

You may still have the originals. DS picked some up today & they were the old ones.

I would order some new ones online, nose only and much less faff.

I’ve had new green box and new blue box ones. All nasal.

The green box we had were nose only.
The blue box we now have is throat and nose.
Odd.

That is odd. The ones with the blue box and the covid particle on the front are nasal.

I think so. It has a covid particle in red on the front. I’ll find the box

Weird my instructions say nose and throat! I got these through the post, I will pick some up from the chemist next time and see if they are different.
