Hello everyone,
My 2 children tested positive on a lft on the 24th of august so we began our 10 days of isolation. Ex also tested positive on a pcr the same day and gave test and trace our details. By the end of the first day both kids were complaining of a headache and no taste. Stupidly I didn't register the tests as my ex said he had already passed on the info to test and trace so was no need. After missing out on 6 shifts at work over the isolation period I wanted to apply for the isolation grant but to do this needed a pcr test.. I was advised by 119 to take the pcr on the final day of isolation so we wouldn't have to isolate again. Results came back on Tuesday with 1 negative and 1 positive, I have been contacted today to say we now need to isolate again after a positive test 😫 I just don't understand the need to isolate again when the 10 days after symptoms has already been done so surely no longer able to pass on the virus 🤷🏼‍♀️
Am I wrong?

You're not wrong, but that's why positive LFTs must be confirmed with a PCR test. The positive result will be logged in the system so you can prove that A) your symptoms/+ve result started on day X, and B) that test and trace already contacted you to instruct you on quarantine.

Technically, you've been isolating just because you 'wanted' to, not because you were instructed to do so legally.

You're not wrong to think it's unnecessary, but you were wrong not to get PCRs to confirm the initial positives.

So whose was the positive pcr this time? If the dc had it and it was one of theirs it can be positive again for up to 90 days

worcgirl · 08/09/2021 19:51

It was my 6 year old that came back positive
