15 minute lateral flow tests

Does anyone know how to get these instead of the 30minute tests? Also does anyone have any idea how the accuracy compares to the original lft? I’m wondering if they are better for children as you only have to swab just inside nostril apparently

I saw a post on here though saying for the 15 minute ones you only needed to do the entrance to the nostril rather than placing the swab higher up the nose which Is painful/ thickly/ makes your eyes run

When I've had the old ones done by someone oficial they only did the nose, so I always do the same, I can't do my throat without gagging.
I usually order them on line & it's the newer ones that they seem to be sending out now.

You still have to tickle your brain with the 15 minute ones.

Order online and you should get one of the new sets. You only do just inside the nostrils. The accuracy is slightly less than when the throat is swabbed as well, but the government are going for reduced accuracy in favour for greater compliance due to the test being better tolerated. There's a link towards the end of the data thread (August edition) that is a technical comparison document between the LFTs.

I've been ordering online. New ones are green box where the pharmacy is blue ones still

These are the ones I've been getting from ordering on line. It still says to stick it a long way up your nostrils

It says less than 2.5 cm from the entrance, the others say at least 2.5cm. The new ones don't need to go as far back

I did a new lateral flow this morning and after 15 mins nothing… slightly later when I looked a faint shadow line appeared. It appeared probably within 30 mins but just but it’s says don’t read after 30 mins. But why would the line not appear within 15 mins. I’m doing another tomorrow (did one after that had no line).

The further up your nose you swab, the more accurate the test will be. Those just wafting it inside the nostrils are much less likely to get an accurate result.

OP, I think it's the luck of the draw whether you get the new green box ones or the blue ones at the moment.

For anyone who isn't aware, the swabbing instructions are different for the green ones. You are told not to use force and not to push the swab too far up your nose. Actual wording on the video is to place the swab JUST INSIDE each nostril.

The last pack I ordered from the government website were these. I didn't request them or do anything different to what I had before. It's much nicer not to have to shove them down your throat!

There are 3 different brands, and they are allocated at random. The FlowFlex (the 15 minute one) and OrientGene are nose only. Innova is nose and throat.

I am not aware of any difference in accuracy.

I have these currently & the instructions explicitly say 2.5cm & you do not have to push very far into your nostril 🤷🏼‍♀️

Same has happened with my DC this evening. Nothing after the 15 mins but did appear later than that.

Yep tested again this morning first thing. Nothing!

We have the ones @Bobholll has from the gov website, they’re so much easier than the other LFDs.

They seem better to me for lots of reasons. I got mine by ordering online.

No you don't. The latest fifteen minute ones we've got have much shorter swabs, too and instructions, as others say, to go just 2.5cm inside your nose.
