Has anyone been fined for not taking a Day 2 test?

Just returned from a fabulous family holiday. We all dutifully did our day 2 tests upon return and had the results back (all negative - all good).

Just wondering if anyone has or knows anyone who didn't do these tests and have been fined as a result?

Just curious as to whether unit is actually monitored or just a money making scam (I suspect the latter)

Not that I’ve heard of. They want to see the code for the form. After that there is no follow up.

I paid for a courier to send ours. They delivered them late and I’d messed up two of the tests. By this point it was day 9 after we returned. So I’m assuming no follow up.

I wish I hadn’t bothered paying for the kids. The code doesn’t go on the form. We’d all LFT before the flight anyway so this just seems like a money making exercise rather than anything else.

I also paid for the day 2 tests. We returned from France the day they switched back to amber. The test and trace team called us two days after we returned to check we were quarantining. I pointed out we were double vaccinated and had returned after the rule change and they realised their mistake and apologised for calling. He didn't ask me anything about day 2 tests, I told him we were about to do them and he just said ok. He couldn't have cared less! I would love to know if anyone has been chased up or fined for not actually completing them. I suspect not.

I know someone that uses the same test code repeatedly on the PLF. We all dutifully did the tests at ridiculous cost. It look 5 days before they even arrived in the lab - 5 days in a post box. How that can be deemed a reliable sample I don’t know. Another few days for the results.

We are being taken for a ride and someone is making a lot of money.

The first time we needed Day 2 tests we used a company that failed to deliver them until day 9. At which point i figured there was no point in taking them as we're both double jabbed and i'd done a lateral flow test.

I think it's just a paperwork exercise now (and I have heard of people using the same code for different trips) but i've still done mine as required.

We were lucky with the tests I think. They cost £20 at a drive through site and got results back same day, so it wasn't so much of a hassle. But I do wonder if there was any point to it.
