DD starting high school and Covid testing

My DD is due to start high school
Tomorrow she has to go in this afternoon to do a test she’s absolutely petrified.
We do regular tests at home but I have to do it for her and it takes a lot of effort to calm her beforehand,
In school she has to do it herself she said she just can’t and also in front of other children.
I have been trying for weeks to get her to do it herself.
I have spoken to school to see if I can attend with her and do it for her but there policy is no parents in the school.
What do I do? What a rubbish way to start high school

If it’s that much of an issue then just opt out, they’re not mandatory. You’ve done a test at home so it’s fine.

Oh no bless her as if starting high school wasn't enough to deal with .

Can she go with one of her friends ?

Perhaps when she sees the other children doing it she will be able to?

If not can't she just go and put the stick in her mouth but not right back and up her nose but not to far and just make sure that you do a test today and tomorrow with her at home ?

The ones we did at our school were just nasal of that helps at all. And ours are done in private in a booth. Not in front of other children. Obvs each school will be different but wanted to share in case it helps. I was amazed how many had never done a test before (new year 7s)

As nobel has said, just withdraw consent & do one at home. You can explain why to the school in an email if you like. I doubt they'll have an issue with it.

Thanks for all the replies,I didn’t know it wasn’t Mandatory I had thoughts of her not being able to do it and not being able to start tomorrow.
I think I will encourage her to try and I will be outside but stress if she can’t it doesn’t matter we can just do one at home and carry on letting her try to do it herself without the pressure
Thanks again
