Vaccine

Hi. I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and still unvaccinated. I'd finally got my head around having the vaccine as I've been very anxious about it and then I found out I was expecting. Has anyone had the vaccine in pregnancy and gone on to give birth? Was everything ok during pregnancy and afterwards? I'm so anxious about having it but also anxious about getting Covid 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

OP, by now thousands upon thousands of women have had it and gone on to give birth. In the US they always vaccinated pregnant women, unlike here where the advice was a bit muddy at first, and loads of those babies got born yonks ago.

I’m due next week and am grateful to be fully vaccinated so I haven’t felt the need to isolate and shut myself away and have really enjoyed my maternity leave without worrying I’ll be really ill with covid.

It’s safe. You will be doing what you can to help make yourself and your baby safe.

I’m sure your midwife will tell you how safe it is in pregnancy.

I don't understand this. You're understandably anxious about the vaccine and covid, and your first response is not to ask your GP or midwife, but to log onto a website where you've never posted before and ask about it.

Why?

Okay, the balance of risks is overwhelmingly in favour of you having the vaccine, because covid in the latter stages of pregnancy is so risky. This is why the advice is to have it.

If you're unsure in your case, please discuss with your GP or midwife.

Look at the advice on the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ website, or the NHS site. Covid in pregnancy can be awful. Go get your vaccine.

I did. I had both doses and then went on to have a perfect baby.

In addition to that my 2 year old caught Covid at nursery a couple of weeks after I came home from hospital. None of us, both fully vaccinated, or the newborn caught it from him. And as you can imagine we could not distance from a toddler at all.
