Do I do another PCR???

Myself and the family have been lucky enough not to have needed any covid tests... Until this week .

Beginning of last week had a tight chest and slight cough - all very mild but did a PCR which was negative.

A few days later Ds1 friendship group all tested positive and he had a positive result on Tuesday after mild symptoms. The whole family including me got tested on the Wednesday (my mild chest tightness/cough persisted) - all negative.

Today my chest feels worse - I have some shortness of breast with a dry cough. O2 Sats are OK at 96% but my pulse is raised at >100bpm.

Just for a review - I've just done a lateral flow, which is negative (but I know is not diagnostic).

No temp/cold symptoms which are particular to the delta variant.

I probably need to do another PCR if I continue to be unwell - however, when should I repeat it (if I need to repeat at all)?

I'm not sure if clear from my opening post Ds1 is pcr positive, its the rest of us that are negative.

Call 119 I think it is to ask

I would do one, but I would be concerned by your sats, but am not a medical expert.

I don't think you need another one. As it's the same illness, but worsening symptoms. I would however maybe think about seeing a doctor saying you've had a negative test and would like your chest listening to.

I think I'm fine with monitoring at home, my O2 Sats are above 95%.

I think covid is clouding my vision. I obv can still have a normal chest infection. I'll see how I go over the next few days

Hmmm I wouldn't discount it with a positive case in your household.

I would do another PCR.

I am in a similar position. Two negative PCRs, the most recent one yesterday. Two family members positive a few days ago.
I don’t feel very well, yet all tests are negative. I felt like this after the vaccine so I wonder if it is my immune system reacting to the virus.
I am doing daily LFTs, and will have to do another PCR later this week as I am a household contact.

Yes I would. My friends husband is positive all her lateral flows were negative. She had a few pcr test ms all negative. She then lost her sense of taste and did another pcr test which was positive, lateral flow was still negative.

Lateral flow tests really aren't reliable unfortunately.

thetesdybears · 06/09/2021 21:52

Forgot to say it took a week after her husbands positive test for her to test positive.

Ah thanks all for the replies. My chest is still tight and the cough persists - otherwise I feel well! I need to do another PCR in 4 days as I work in a hospital and they requests a repeat test before I return to work.

Only 1 person in the house is positive. No one else is symptomatic or had a + test.

I can't remember the incubation period.
