Lateral flow test question

For those of you who’ve had a positive lateral flow test how long did it take for the pink test line to appear? I keep hovering over mine like it’s a pregnancy test and assume it’ll be negative if there’s no hint of a line within the first 5 minutes although I do wait the whole 30 minutes as instructed to throw them away.

DP was instant but mine and DD took around 15 mins to show up

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor oh I definitely wait the 30 minutes, it’s become my new peeing on a stick and making my eyes water searching for a line!

Mine was instant

btw i ordered some online recently and they are slightly different to the usual ones, are actually a bit better and on checking the instructions these have a developing time of 15 minutes not 30.
So double check the instructions if they're not the usual kind

That said everyone i know who's had a positive said that as with pregnancy tests the extra line showed up quickly

Mine took almost the full 30 minutes to show positive and was a proper squint and you miss it job it was so faint. I did four or five over my ten days of SI (I'm CV so was interested to know when they'd turn negative, which they did after about 7 days).

DH's, OTOH, went positive almost instantly and the line was very vivid.

We're both double jabbed (him with Pfizer, me with AZ), I had no symptoms apart from a headache and sneezing fits for a day or two while DH was completely asymptomatic. Also we're both pretty sure we had covid before, last March before testing (so much nastier).

Does anyone know why our LFTs were so different? Same box/batch.

Some come up instantly, some take longer (I've looked at about 500 of the things today).

The stronger lines generally mean more virus- so better swabbing, or more in your body, iirc.
