Another isolation question sorry 😞

Hello all.
Just need a little bit of advice. So my unvaccinated friend has tested positive for covid and her isolation period is almost up. A couple of days I think. However her DS has just had a postive LFT today (waiting for a pcr).
My understanding is that as my friend has already had it she can finish her isolation and go back to normal. But her unvaccinated dh who hasn't had it will have to reset back to day 1.
There was a thread similar to this the other day which had links to supporting information but I just can't find it. Does anyone remember it or know what my friend should do in this situation?
Thank you

They can't go back to normal as they are unvaccinated

Read the government website

stripedbananas · 05/09/2021 18:02

They have to isolate as DS is positive or until his pcr test results come back and that will decide

Positive pcr - they all isolate

Just read the government website and found this.

Ugh I can't figure out how to share it is so confusing. It basically said if you are unvaccinated you need to isolate for 10 days. If you show symptoms you start the 10 days again. If someone else then shows symptoms you don't need to isolate further. Wish I wasn't such a technophobe. That was on the government website

Clearly not as much as a technophobe as I thought. I could be reading it completely wrong obviously.

I agree that your friend can finish her isolation but her DH has to isolate from 10 days from the start of symptoms or positive PCR test if asymptomatic

Thegreymethod · 05/09/2021 18:11

If her son caught it during her isolation period she just finishes her isolation and her son starts from day 1. This was the rules when we had it last month I'm not sure if that's changed now. Although at the time there were a few threads on here contradicting that information I believe that different people were being told different things from track and trace but that was the information I was given and I double/triple checked.

fourandahalfkids · 05/09/2021 18:15

Thank you both @PinkSparklyPussyCat and @Thegreymethod that was my understanding also.

I'm pretty sure your friend won't have to keep isolating. This happened to me last month - I caught Covid before I got my second vaccine. Then my DS tested positive 6 days after I did. I was told on 2 separate phone calls that I did not have to reset my isolation period despite not being double vaxxed, as clearly DS caught Covid from me.

Not sure about her DH.

Donatella · 05/09/2021 19:54

Neither of them has to isolate. Only the person who tests positive within the 10 days of household isolation has to do another 10 days, everyone else is released after the original 10 days

dementedpixie · 05/09/2021 19:58

Her dh ends isolation as normal if he has no symptoms as they are still in the original isolation period. The ds gets his own 10 day isolation period

No her dh does not reset isolation Her ds isolates for 10 days
Bobholll · 05/09/2021 20:02

She finishes her isolation as normal. DH finishes his so long as no symptoms. DS unfortunately has to re-start for 10 days.

If you are unvaccinated, the rules are the same as they were pre-the new rules.

@dementedpixie - very helpful graphic!

Close contacts who are over 18 and who are not doubly vaccinated still have to isolate.
Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/09/2021 20:16

@Pissinthepottyplease they do but they don't have to extend their own isolation if they pass Covid onto another household member who goes on to test positive.

dementedpixie · 05/09/2021 20:46

@Pissinthepottyplease he has already isolated and doesn't need to extend his isolation if he doesn't get symptoms. If he goes on to get symptoms after the original 10 day isolation he then does his extra 10 days
