DH and teens and I - conflicting views about covid jabs for teens

I have 2 teens aged 13 and 15 and this morning we have had a family debate about the covid jabs for teens. The concensus is that my DH doesn't agree with them having the jab , neither of them want it either but I think it is a sensible thing to do. My DH's reasoning are that the jab is actually not really protecting them it is only being offered to protect others and there must be a reason why the JCVI have reservations. My argument is that they have been jabbing children in other countries for months and so far so good!!! If they go down the same route as with adults that you don't have to isolate of you are jabbed then if they are not jabbed and my DD in yr 11 has to isolate when a close contact she could miss an awful lot of school. My parents have also said as they are vulnerable if the kids aren't jabbed they will not be happy to see them as they could spread it to them. Who has the final say???

@shellstarbarley

What made you change your mind from your other posts on other threads when you were against the vaccine for teenagers? Do you think maybe you have influenced their opinion?

My 17 year old has had his first jab but has to wait until 3 months before his next birthday to get the second. Although some of his friends seem to have managed to circumvent this rule.

I'm not that keen on vaccinating my teenage sons, based on the stated concerns of the JCVI who are more knowledgeable than me. Frankly the freedom to travel is probably the deciding factor but (as I understand it) my 14 year old wouldn't be allowed to get a second jab so that benefit goes away with only one vaccine. Although a doctor friend of mine mentioned that single jab vaccines may not be too far away (can't remember the manufacturer).

Actually I think the single vaccine is Janssen which isn't authorised for under 18s so that won't be an option

What country are you in? Isn’t this a moot point? I thought under 16s were only being offered the jab if clinically vulnerable? (In UK)
