Lateral flow pink background

Wonder if anyone could help. Home from uk break today and OH and the children all tested negative with the standard 1 line and white background. My first 2 tests were inconclusive (I think). They showed only a little part of the line to show it had tested, not even half of it. It was very faint though and below the very faint line was a pink background that did not fade. My 3rd one has a full negative line (yay!) but again has a full pink background that is not fading. Just thought it is strange my family all had a clear white background while mine are all very pink below the test line. Anyone know why? All tests are from the same pack.

Should have added I did all the tests. Mine, my OHs and our childrens. So haven't just done mine wrong.

Do you have a picture?

Bit of a sore throat today and have had 3 positive lateral flows so I assume that had something to do with it. Did 3 to make sure I know its silly 🙈 booked in for pcr tomorrow.

I've just had the same thing my fife and 2 kids has come back negative with a solid red line and white background. I've done 3 tests and all 3 have come back with a pink background and faint line near the negative I've got a photo of all test but not sure how to upload. I've phoned test track and track and the lady said she had never heard of it and to do another test

" I've phoned test track and track and the lady said she had never heard of it and to do another test"

I'm hardly in the epicentre of Covid testing but I've heard of several people saying they've seen this. I think it occurs more with the new 15 min tests.

But this is just from chatter so please don't rely on it.

Not wanting to be a prophet of doom but I had 3 negative LFT's that were like you've described with a wishy washy pink background and a then positive PCR. Fingers crossed that yours aren't the same.

I know a pink vertical line is trace blood. Is it that?

duffeldaisy · 01/10/2021 17:32

I had one where the background went very pink, but I think it was just because I put too much liquid in it. It dried out and went lighter (the line to show it had tested was very dark, with no other lines). I registered it as void, and took another one, which stayed a white background and was clearly negative.

I think it's just some kind of flaw (only had one like that among all our family testing), rather than a signal of anything. Try taking another one. I hope it's negative.

I think it’s when you over drop - like use too much liquid

DivitLad · 23/04/2022 11:26

Just read about that and it seems normal , that's how it been showing on mine and the page online showed the same background colour , pinky purple

DivitLad · 23/04/2022 11:28

most likely is adding too much liquid onto the test kit
