My dd8 tested positive on a lft the line was faint but defo there. She is a very anxious girl so wanted to do another. The second lft had a vvvfaint line so faint you had to go up to a window to see but within 30 mins.
We are awaiting pcr results but like i said she is very anxious and couldn't sleep last night due to worrying she may die. could it have been a false positive? as so faint.
clinching at straws as she will be devastated if positive

Yes it is possible it’s a false positive. DS has had 2 very faint LFTs confirmed negative by PCR 2 weeks apart.

However, it could well be a true positive, especially as she had 2 close together.

Even if it is positive she is young so very unlikely to be extremely ill.

I hope you get your results quickly x

I’m a paeds nurse
Please reassure your dd the likelihood of her being unwell enough to even need a trip to
Hospital is very very very unlikely.

We've had a few faint positive lateral flows in our house, and the follow up PCRs have been negative every time.
