Tell me what I need to do

Can someone tell me what I should be doing please? Finding the guidance online a bit confusing.
Here's the situation:-

Out with a friend Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
She tested positive on a lateral flow test last night.
I've only had first dose of vac (2nd jab booked in Monday 6th sept).

What do I need to do now. As in self isolate? How long for? From when? Etc.

Many thanks you knowledgeable bunch Smile

Nothing, you last saw her more than 48hrs before she developed symptoms or tested positive.

You don't need to test/isolate because of the friend (contact was not that recent) so you are unlikely to have picked it up from them.

However, her positive is inline with her picking up the virus over the weekend (4/5 day incubation) So if you were at the same place/same people etc, I would either get a PCR test, or do daily lateral flows for a few days.

My understanding: You aren't fully vaccinated yet, so the 'old rules' apply to you. Close contacts of positive cases must isolate. But a) your friend hasn't had a confirmed PCR yet and b) whether you're a close contact depends on when her symptoms started. If you were in close contact with her within 48 hours of her symptoms starting, and she gets a positive PCR, then you should self isolate. But I believe it's only a legally enforceable thing if Test & Trace contact you.

Legally nothing at all.
In your shoes I'd do an LFT every day though and possibly a PCR if you're worried.

Her symptoms started yesterday. She has ordered a PCR. Work want me to stay away from ten days. I'm more concerned about how I'm going to get kids to and from school x

Also I did a lateral this morning and it's negative

You don't have to do anything. You saw her more that 48 hrs ago.

I would do a few lat flows over the next few days, but you are fine to take the kids to school etc unless you develop any symptoms.

That's great. Thanks all
