Just that really.

I'm a bit nervous as I had a virus about ten years ago where I lost my taste and smell and it didn't return for months Sad

I'm on day 7 of the virus and my taste and smell went on day 5.

My brother had Covid at Xmas and is still struggling to smell or taste anything other than strong smells or spicy flavours.

Sillysop92 · 01/09/2021 13:32

I’m the same @cushioncovers. It comes and goes sometimes I can smell everything other times only really strong smells. I also have a lingering scent of stale cigarettes, which I loathe and did blame my daughter for having a sneaky fag in her room. 😂

Post vaccine Covid. I lost mine for about a week. Taste came back before smell.

LindaEllen · 01/09/2021 13:43

DP had covid May 2020. Still can't smell properly.

Fl0w3ry · 01/09/2021 13:43

Taste slowly started to return after around 10 days from zero taste.

eandz13 · 01/09/2021 13:56

Mine also started to return 10 days on from losing it. Gradually though. Got a bit better every day, by 3 weeks on it was back to normal.

ACreakingGateNeverStops · 01/09/2021 14:05

My husband lost his sense of smell in Feb 2020 and it took about a year to return. He had no other obvious symptoms but I had classic covid symptoms about the same time and didn't lose my smell that I remember.
We assume it was covid but no tests available at the time unless you were unwell enough to go to hospital.

clemensiadove · 01/09/2021 14:06

Mine was back a week after I lost it. I was worried too!

feliznavidad2 · 01/09/2021 14:09

About 4-5 weeks

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/09/2021 14:49

It's 18 days since I tested positive. My smell is returning gradually, taste not so much.

I'm currently on day 14 and it's coming back gradually
ParadiseLaundry · 01/09/2021 16:14

It seems quite variable.

Last time I could only taste strong garlic and honey. It was really miserable.

I can taste or smell nothing at all at the minute. I was cleaning some brushes in white spirit and couldn't smell it at all. Scary.

Mines came back on day 9 or 10, smell is around 90% and taste 100%

Blueuggboots · 01/09/2021 16:29

My OH had Covid in august last year and has regained some smell but still can't smell a lot of things and still smells burning often....

Badabingbadabum · 01/09/2021 16:33

About five or six months until I could taste and smell enough where it wasn't too much on an issue. Eleven months since I had covid though and it still hasn't returned back to what it was.

Guineapigbridge · 01/09/2021 16:36

Seems like there's quite a big difference depending on whether you're vaccinated?

Marcee · 01/09/2021 16:36

Luckily my taste was only slightly dulled, I cant still tasted sweet and sour and salty.
I'm on day 9.
But smell went completely. Even checked with a Vicks vapour rib- can smell nothing yet.

Not back yet, but still early days.

Marcee · 01/09/2021 16:37

I can still taste most stuff

tootiredtobeinspired · 01/09/2021 16:38

Mine started to come back slowly after about 10 days of nothing. I'm now about 6 weeks out from positive test and my taste is pretty much normal but my smell is still not quite there. Some days it better than others and sometimes I get weird smells that are not really there (burning plastic and bins!)
Its so frustrating to lose your sense of smell. Hope it returns soon for you Op.
