Primary school age kids with Covid - what was it like?

I'm preparing for the start of school and feeling quite anxious about Covid as I feel it's pretty inevitable the kids will get it this autumn.

Please tell me what it's really been like, if your primary age child has had Covid? Especially if it was the Delta variant. I just want to hear a more representative range of stories so I don't freak myself out so much!

Feeling ok personally as although I am clinically vulnerable I am double jabbed (yay!) and have felt much more relaxed about getting it myself. But we've had some friends whose children have had it pretty badly and have long term problems since. But I know that statistically that's not the norm! So just trying to reassure myself as I suspect most children just get it mildly.

Thanks so much.

It is such a boon that kids aren't so badly affected, thank goodness for that.

this is really reassuring thanks for sharing as am convinced my primary aged boys will get it very soon

Will def be more worried about dh or I catching it off them despite the fact that we are fully vaxxed

4yo DS was grumpy and a little tired. He only got tested because I tested positive.

All three of mine had it last December.
DD 8 had sore throat, lack of appetite, lethargy and a high temp for about a week.
DD 4 was the worst off. She was vomiting, lack of appetite lasting a good few weeks, rash, sore thrust and temperature. It took bet a good 4-6 weeks so feel normal.
DS 3 very mild cold like symptoms for a few days,

8yo had mild fever for 12 hours. Still completely fine. Two 8yo school mates also PCR positive but no symptoms at all. Only tested because of mine. 11yo didn’t show at all. My DH and I (double vaxxed) had swollen glands but nothing else at all. If it wasn’t for the isolation I wouldn’t have cared at all that we had it. V thankful after hearing the early horror stories.

Reading this makes me wonder if my kids have had it and I didn’t notice…

We are 8 days in (Y6). Cough, bad headache, tired, sore throat for about 5 days. Also some chills and random twinges the first few days. Still a bit tired but nearly better. Even on the worst day managed to get up and run riot with her sibling some of the time.

DD 10 A slight cough and a mild temp that we treated with Calpol and she was back to normal within half an hour.
