I was starving when I had covid and kept ordering takeaways to be left outside! My friend however barely ate for a week as she totally lost her appetite despite not being that unwell. It's hard to say how you will feel about food but get stuff that will keep as well as stuff you might fancy if you do feel crappy

I lived off Warburton's Super Toastie for a week Grin

HairyFloppins · 31/08/2021 21:14

I was starving but didn't always feel up to cooking so lots of simple things and ready meals.

We did use just eat and uber eats rather a lot that week.

I kept throwing food away. Couldn't cook anything or eat anything so rest of family had to keep improvising. Buy food, by all means, but nothing perishable, or that can't be frozen.

MorningLatteCold · 31/08/2021 22:21

I don’t have a big freezer and hate food waste! I’ve got a slot for Monday. I can always top up with non perishables if I don’t fancy food food.

I wasn't unwell but was hungry and couldn't taste / smell. I ate crap like ready made mash, ready made Mac and cheese / shepherds pie / toast and butter. Stuff that normally tastes bland was easier to stomach. We

I ate very little but it was generally a small plate of beige crap or toast

Janaih · 31/08/2021 22:40

I ate many many biscuits. Could only taste carby things.

disculpe · 31/08/2021 22:44

I didn't eat a lot because I lost my sense of taste and smell. Didn't seem worth eating anything delicious or indulgent so I just ate a lot of basic, dull food - toast, boiled eggs, black coffee, chicken mash and veg - nothing particularly interesting! I was very glad to get my taste back a couple of weeks later and actually eat tasty food again!

Lindy2 · 31/08/2021 23:00

I had my usual appetite for the first week.

The second week I was really quite poorly and hardly ate.

The third week I gradually recovered and could eat a little bit again.

I would suggest getting some easy snack food in such as dried fruit, juices/flavoured drinks, chocolate, crackers.

Cooking really wasn't on the agenda so easy snacks that I could nibble on when I felt able to were very handy. For some reason when I started eating again I had a very sweet tooth which I don't usually have.

This was before vaccinations were available. Hopefully, if you've had your vaccines, you won't feel too bad. I hope you recover quickly.

I am on day 8 post test and my appetite has been fine.

I did order extra fruit and also orange juice because I wanted to be sure I was getting vitamins, mostly I have tried to drink water though.

Tigerswife · 01/09/2021 00:07

Snack food mainly such as pot noodles, ready meals, lots to drink. Had things with strong taste as lost smell and taste so could only slightly taste some foods.

olidora63 · 01/09/2021 00:12

I got my positive result on Christmas morning 😷Can honestly say my appetite was ok until Boxing Day when I lost my sense of taste and smell…I still ate food when hungry.

Bubbublish · 01/09/2021 00:35

I didn't eat much the first week when I was at home, lost smell and taste and I was being sick alot, in hospital I ate jelly and since coming home porridge goes down quite well.

Get in food that will keep or maybe ask friends or family to get you something if you fancy it. Try to drink lots of water.

Hope you feel better
