I’ve done lateral flow test which is negative but have heard some folk only had these symptoms & then tested positive with PCR. Would you get a PCR test with these mild cold like symptoms?

Potentially yes if you’ve been vaccinated. All DS has was a sore throat and a mild cough. No fever.

maxineputyourredshoeson · 31/08/2021 17:23

We all recently had these symptoms - DH, DD1 and MIL all positive. Me and DD2 negative and continued to be negative - we had 3 PCR tests at the advice of test and trace because we had the same symptoms.

Yarnandneedles · 31/08/2021 17:25

I’m struggling to get my head around the continuing testing.
I’m beginning to think we should only be doing it for those who are severe enough to be hospitalised.
I’m not sure what the purpose is now as the virus seems to be everywhere.

JanglyBeads · 31/08/2021 17:26

They all come in the Zoe app’s list of top five symptoms experienced by vaccinated people, iirc.

maxineputyourredshoeson · 31/08/2021 17:28

We were advised by test and trace to keep testing because we were all living in the same house and had 3 positive cases.

I forgot to say in my original post me, MIL and DD1 all had negative LFT and DH had a very, very faint positive.

I’ve never needed to get a PCR but with cases rising everyone is being encouraged to test 🤷‍♀️

My friend only got a positive LFT a good few days after a positive PCR. They are laggy. Yes, I'd suggest a PCR.

Agree with this and yes I would get a PCR test.
ABDearheart · 31/08/2021 17:44

Dh had negative lateral flow, positive pcr - symptoms: slight sore throat, a bit tired, occasional sneeze, bit of a runny nose. (Double vaccinated) I am still waiting pcr results - similar symptoms. (Double v.)

toomuchlaundry · 31/08/2021 17:44

Yes

MrsWooster · 31/08/2021 17:49

Definitely. I’m positive with only symptoms of a regular cold and a diminished sense of smell and altered taste (hence the test). Otherwise I’d have been merrily wandering around infecting everyone.
Ps, I’ve had covid, long covid, 2 vaccinations and I’ve still got the fucking thing again.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/08/2021 17:58

Yes, I tested positive and my first symptoms were blocked nose and sneezing.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/08/2021 17:58

I tested negative on LFT but positive on a PCR.

Frizzlington · 31/08/2021 18:03

Right I’m going to try & book a test

OP posts:
toomuchlaundry · 01/09/2021 19:14

Did you manage to book a test?

Frizzlington · 01/09/2021 19:28

Yes I managed to get a test late yesterday and thankfully been notified it was negative 😅. Funnily enough the ZOE app emailed me today advising a test after I’d input my symptoms, so obviously these symptoms are becoming more normal for the double Vaccinated

Chattercino · 01/09/2021 19:33

I think keep testing every day as a friend had same symptoms and tested negative for four days on a LFT and positive on the 5th day

Frizzlington · 01/09/2021 19:37

👍
