PCR tests

I know people without clear symptoms can test negative if they take the test too early (and be positive a few days later)

But has anyone developed symptoms (runny nose, sore throat, slight cough) and then had a negative pcr followed by positive a few days later, or would you always test positive if you were displaying symptoms (unless you had a cold obviously)

This would require the Gov to publish the sensitivity and specificity of the PCR tests. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that one.

Just interested to know if we can be sure it's not covid if pcr is negative after 24 hours of symptoms

Only the cough would be considered a symptom by TT&P. I tested positive with a runny nose and sore throat but the cough only came a few days later and as a result my isolation period was extended.

I would test again tbh. It is possible you might test positive now.
