I'm just wondering I've managed to get alway through this with never being tested despite working allway through this subcontracting at a hospital.

No LFTor PCR I've not needed to , but there is people who are doing them all the time.

Is it just me as many on here will have a test every bloody day.

I’ve never neither have my kids.

NeedWineNow · 29/08/2021 16:38

My DH hadn't until we had to have them prior to boarding a recent cruise.

Karlee30 · 29/08/2021 16:47

My partner from last week is required to do lateral flows for work (they didn't bother before). Prior to that he hadn't had a single covid test.

I've only had one last year. I had a wisdom tooth infection and I am sure the mouthwash I was using killed my taste buds therefore I got a test to rule out covid which was negative.

Wombat96 · 29/08/2021 16:48

Nope, neither me or DH have, no reason to test.

SecondCityShark · 29/08/2021 16:50

I did my first lateral flow last week. I had the same thought as you OP and thought I must be one of very few that hadn't experienced that yet.

Againstmachine · 29/08/2021 16:53

Just wondered only member of my family was my brother in law, who tested, but my sister and niece didn't as they isolated at same time so need to test.

Very few People I know have even had a test never mid a positive.

My DH and I have never had one. Never had any symptoms he is retired and I have always WFH. DS1 works in hospitality and has tested multiple times.

Lazypuppy · 29/08/2021 16:55

Neither myself or DP have needed to test, DD who is 3 had to have 1 PCR test after getting a cough and being sent home from nursery

Rainbows89 · 29/08/2021 16:55

I have not had a covid test.

DH and DS have.

Useruseruserusee · 29/08/2021 16:56

I’ve been twice weekly testing (LFT) for work since before Christmas.

My Dad has never had one. He is retired, doesn’t travel abroad and hasn’t experienced any symptoms.

Depends on your situation though?

I'm one of the people who is having a test what feels like "every bloody day" Grin , but that's because I'm required to for work. Given what I do I think that's fair enough.

Even if I wasn't required to, I'd be happy to participate in mass screening as it won't affect me financially if I did need to isolate. I can completely understand why those self-employed etc are anti this as there's no financial support.

The fact that you've never had symptoms that require you to isolate is a good a thing no? Of course some people will be more risk adverse when it comes to deciding if they potentially have symptoms, and a temp/cough/loss of smell and taste is relatively subjective.

This wasn't a comment on you or anyone else, I was just pointing out that the core symptoms of coronavirus are subjective. What one person perceives as a loss of smell and taste, someone else might not even notice.

I did my first LFT a week ago & PCR a couple of days ago. Horrendous sore throat for the last 13 days, which has turned into an awful racking cough for the last 5. I checked my blood O2 with the finger monitor a couple of nights ago & it was 84. Both tests negative, doctor prescribed me some steroids, it's just my asthma playing up as usual (I was 99% sure that it was). Starting to feel better now but I've lost half a stone.

Plumtree391 · 29/08/2021 17:13

I've never been tested, have been vaccinated.

LaurieFairyCake · 29/08/2021 17:21

First time last week Smile

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 29/08/2021 17:23

I haven't and neither has DH or the kids. We live in Spain and he's been working from home since March 2020 and I always work from home. Kids have been at school since last September but not had any close contacts get it.

Againstmachine · 29/08/2021 17:49

I've been vaccinated both of them.

OP posts:
ImInStealthMode · 29/08/2021 17:51

I've had 3 PCRs all related to travel and thankfully all negative.

reprehensibleme · 29/08/2021 17:54

Nope, neither of us. Never been contacted by T&T. Had both jags. DH working from home, me in tourism so meeting quite a few people. Never had any symptoms.

Bellagonna · 29/08/2021 17:57

DH and I haven't. We've had to test both DC because they developed coughs but both were negative. We assume we've all had covid though because I can't see, if it's so prevalent how we haven't given we have all been out and about pretty much throughout.

Againstmachine · 29/08/2021 17:57

I've recently been contacted by NHS imperial colliege to take part in a survey no thanks due to nightmare I had with GPs earlier this year.

InDubiousBattle · 29/08/2021 17:59

My dad and my in laws haven't but they're retired and have never had symptoms. I would imagine it's pretty rare for people working outside the home or anyone with school age kids to have never had a test at all.

Dnadoon · 29/08/2021 17:59

Never took a test, definitely had covid though. I was in bed iller than I've ever been in my life for 2 weeks, no taste or smell, far too poorly to go and get a test only just managed to crawl to toilet Didn't know that you could get tests delivered but was too poorly to arrange that anyway.

EmmaGellerGreen · 29/08/2021 18:00

I’ve not tested. DH has done a couple of lateral flows before going into the office. DS does them when he’s at school. Not been contacted by T&T as close contact.
