The kind in the green and white box, where you stand the swab in the liquid for a minute then only wait 15 for a result. Does anyone else have problems getting the drops of liquid out of the tube? So far I've wasted 2 out of the 4 I've tried to do because the drops won't come out, I end up squeezing the tube so hard the top flies off. It's happened 3 times total but the third the liquid landed on the test anyway so I gave up and am using that attempt despite it probably being more than the 4 drops I am supposed to use 🤷‍♀️ Is there some knack to it I am missing?

Did you peel the silver plastic lid off?

Vickles20 · 28/08/2021 08:37

I suppose you must’ve done to put the liquid in. Sorry. How strange

Squeeze the tube as you pull the swab out. Maybe it’s all still in the swab?

Revengeofthepangolins · 28/08/2021 12:06

Used them quite often, no problem. I do squeeze the vial when removing the swab, to squeeze liquid from it, as one was told to do with the other sort - perhaps this helps maximise the available fluid ?

Don't take this the wrong way, but I found that by meticulously following the instructions I had no problem.

Donatella · 28/08/2021 13:26

I do squeeze the swab as I bring it out, and there is loads of liquid in the tube when I start trying to get it out. One of the tubes I used worked perfectly so maybe I just have a dodgy batch.

I had a batch of old ones with no liquid in the liquid tubes!

Have you tried just tipping the tube with no top on instead of squeezing it out?

Donatella · 28/08/2021 14:13

Could do, but there seems to be some kind of filter on the caps which I assume has a purpose so not sure if doing that would affect the results.

I had exactly this problem with one, but all others have been fine. I suspect a defect in the filter/cap that stops the liquid from getting through. Fairly sure it wasn’t operator error. Should have yellow carded it and will if it happens again.

I got a newer packet today, a blue box with a colourful covid virus 🦠 design. Hope it’s the same s I can’t keep learning new LFT procedures.
