DH positive, what now?

whiteonesugar · 27/08/2021 20:10

DH has tested positive on a LFT today - which he only did because he was meant to be going to a football match tomorrow! He’s had a PCR and waiting the results.

I’m double jabbed (he’s single jabbed) and we have 2 DCs, 6 and 2.

What do we do now? Are we (me and DCs) self isolating until he gets the result (which seems futile as we don’t legally need to if it’s positive) And should DH be keeping away from us? He’s disappeared upstairs and intends to sleep in the spare room. Also, DCs have nursery and school next week, it seems wrong somehow to send them off knowing their dad has Covid!

Do we need PCR tests if his comes back positive? The younger DC had one this week due to a cough which was negative, older one and I did LFT today both negative.

Not sure what to do now tbh.

Yes exactly that’s the plan. It’s one of those situations where I feel a bit out of control so attempting to do what I can!

@whiteonesugar hope you all are ok?
Could I please ask how long after the 1st dose your husband tested positive?

whiteonesugar · 30/08/2021 11:49

@FeelingJittery1 hey, we are all negative. DH feels like he’s got a cold, he said he felt ok last night so looks like it’s mild thankfully.

He had the first dose about 4 weeks ago.

FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 12:10

@whiteonesugar that must be a relief. I wasn’t trying to pry it’s just that I had my first 4 weeks back as well - 19 days back to be exact so was wondering how the effects are in a single jabbed person. Not sure if age matters but I’m 40..

whiteonesugar · 30/08/2021 12:35

He’s 40 too! He’s been down for a walk around the garden so he seems to be ok, talking normally, no issues with his chest - just feels like a head cold.

He’s lost his taste and smell now… cough going though!

FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 17:50

@whiteonesugar oh didn’t realise- has he got a cough now? I had Pfizer btw

whiteonesugar · 30/08/2021 18:00

He had Pfizer too. As did I. He had a cough the first couple days but it’s all but gone now.

Update - day 5 of symptoms for DH now. Cough is almost gone, still no taste or smell, very tired and some brain fog, he’s doing some work though and said before Covid would have just dosed up and worked.

Me and both DC still Testing negative on LFTs, youngest went to nursery today. Oldest and I went to a shop For some school Bits.

Hoping that DH isolating is doing what it should and we remain Covid free - fingers crossed!

@whiteonesugar fingers crossed for you!

FeelingJittery1 · 01/09/2021 09:16

@whiteonesugar hope you all are ok?

whiteonesugar · 01/09/2021 09:18

@FeelingJittery1 yep all good here thank you. DH still staying away, think he will do a LFT today to see whether it’s still positive or stronger or whatever. Curiosity mainly. He’s still feeling rough, but has been able to do some work and is up and about, not bedridden.

My son went back to school today and the youngest is at nursery. I’m still not socialising etc and all our tests are negative, no symptoms. Thanks for asking.

FeelingJittery1 · 01/09/2021 11:54

@whiteonesugar didn’t realise LFTs show if it is a strong/mild case..is it how clearly visible the line is?

Glad that you are still negative.

whiteonesugar · 01/09/2021 11:59

I don’t know if it’s does. But if it’s negative then I’m Assuming he isn’t contagious anymore so can re-enter family life! But who knows. Like I say, curiosity more than anything.

You can test positive for 90 days

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 01/09/2021 12:13

I'm so glad you posted this. My eldest DD tested positive on a lat flow this morning, but had been confined to her room since Monday as it had presented as a lost voice and I selfishly didn't want to catch that going back to work (in a school) next week. She was neg on lat flow Monday and Tuesday.

We've all had PCRs today and I'm hoping that my swift and over dramatic isolating of her has been enough to save the rest of us from it - it was nice to read you've all been negative after your similar steps. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Funny you should say that. The first symptoms I had of Covid was a lost voice for no apparent reason.

Same with my mum. Just lost her voice but felt fine. Then got the itger symptoms and tested positive.

Also my daughter lost her voice for no apparent reason a few weeks ago- we didnt test her at the time cos she was fine otherwise but I think she got it first and spread it to the others.

whiteonesugar · 01/09/2021 12:26

@EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall I know, but someone i know was positive then negative within a few days. Like i say, curiosity.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa Fingers crossed it stays that way for both of us!

@whiteonesugar

*I would sleep separately from your husband if you have space.

We are all double jabbed. I continued to sleep in the same bed as DH for 5 days after he tested positive (no spare room) , obviously caught it and have only just started to feel better a month later*

We did this slept separately, I managed to dodge it.

whiteonesugar · 01/09/2021 13:47

He did the LFT it was BLINDINGLY positive. He isnt coughing anymore, no sore throat. He said the main thing is feeling completely wiped out, tired and brain fog, plus the taste and smell. No other symptoms though now. It's day 6 of Symptoms for him.

He will carry on sleeping upstairs for now, no idea when he will stop being contagious (wish there was a way of knowing!) so not sure how long he will stay there for. He is basically living in a room on his own. He made a joke about it being a positive not having to talk to me so he's clearly not feeling too bad lol

FeelingJittery1 · 02/09/2021 07:32

@whiteonesugar Hope your husband is on the mend now?

whiteonesugar · 02/09/2021 09:49

He is much the same, yesterday he said was his best day in terms of how he's felt but today is feeling a bit ropey, still not terrible though and he hasn't been taking paracetamol the last 2 days so I've told him to take some and stop being a hero. Day 6 now, week tomorrow since the positive test.

OP posts:
whiteonesugar · 02/09/2021 09:51

I say day 6 because the first day is classed as day 0, not 1. Hence saying 6 yesterday and today. its confusing. Symptoms started last Friday

OP posts:
FeelingJittery1 · 02/09/2021 15:09

@whiteonesugar thank you for the update. Yes I would take anything to help..so if paracetamol helps he should take it..
