Covid after double jabbed

Bexily · 27/08/2021 10:09

I've just had a positive lateral flow, I know that being jabbed doesn't prevent you from getting covid but wondered if anybody has any experience of the symptoms and progression.

I feel like I've got a bad cold, sore throat, headache, just generally rubbish but I don't have any of the 3 covid symptoms that would allow me to book a Pcr. I did a lateral flow at work on Tuesday and it was negative (didn't feel anyway ill, we have to go them). Started with sore throat Wednesday and felt really run down yesterday and today, I've done another Lateral Flow this morning and got an immediate positive. Thankfully I've been working from home for the rest of the week because the kids have been ill.

I'm going for a Pcr this aft.

I'm double jabbed and ended up in hospital for 10 nights, nearly didn't make it!

Before I went into hospital when I was at home, I became increasingly unwell until I was blue lighted to hospital.

I was possibly one of the unlucky ones, most people have mild symptoms after the jabs.

The nurses told me that the jabs probably saved my life.

My advice is to make sure you drink plenty to avoid dehydration and if you feel you can't even move, ring 111 and ask for help.

I hope you feel better

Maverickess · 27/08/2021 10:50

Same symptoms as you OP, tested positive on a regular lateral flow and confirmed by PCR (I do them weekly for work) didn't have any of the 3
main symptoms, though I'm coughing now.
I didn't have any symptoms when I took the lateral flow except feeling a bit tired and grotty for a couple of hours, knew I'd been exposed though.
Had the achy muscles temperature type feeling last night.

Shit! Hope you are ok now.

I know a few people who have had Covid post double jab. Mostly they just felt like they had a cold. Hope whatever it is, is mild for you op.

This is my worst nightmare. I'm terrified of ending up really ill. I was added to the CV list in Feb and have no idea why. What day did you start to feel really bad?

Hope you're OK now.

Thank you for the other comments, really hope this is as bad as it gets 🤞

Oh that sounds awful!

How long ago was it & how are you feeling now?

Thank god you'd had your jabs!!

Were you + 2 weeks after your second?

Seagullsstopit · 27/08/2021 12:21

I was pretty much same as you, I've had worse colds to be honest. I also didn't get any symptoms that would have got me a pcr without a positive lateral flow.
My 10 days post pcr is midnight on sunday and I've felt absolutely fine for days.
Just waiting for my smell and taste to come back

bumbleymummy · 27/08/2021 12:37

@Bubbublish Don’t you have some underlying conditions that put you more at risk? I think it might be worth mentioning that in case your post worries some people. For most people, infection after being double vaccinated is usually mild and would not result in hospitalisation.

DoItAfraid · 27/08/2021 12:40

I would say watch for days 6-8. I was shocked how ill I felt.

Bubbublish · 27/08/2021 12:48

@bumbleymummy

I don't have any underlying health conditions. I am a bit overweight. I was just very unlucky☹️

Marcee · 27/08/2021 12:54

Ive got it now, in double jabbed- pfizer.

So suddenly ls
Ost my voice a few days ago for no reason, and breathing just felt a bit heavier.
Then started with aches and pains.
Then lost my smell- taste a bit funny.
Aches and muscle pains. Lots of sweating
But no temp or cough.

Runny nose and lots of sneezing. Generally tired.

Think after about 4 days seems to be improving now. But still early days
But dont have a temp or a cough.
So maybe I got lucky? Will see how the next week goes. Have to self isolate til end of next week. But voice much better after about 3 days now.

Icantstopeatinglol · 27/08/2021 12:58

Hi op, I was on the shielding list and had both jabs and caught covid last month. I started off similar to you and about 2-3 days in ended up in bed for 4-5 days. Mainly tight chest, blocked sinuses, slight cough and generally no energy at all. Felt rubbish but I’m fine now and most people are. Try not to panic and just rest up. Get a good box set ready to watch and ale sure you’re drinking plenty water, eating well etc. You’ll be fine Flowers

Madcats · 27/08/2021 13:01

We all had Covid last month. Mainly runny nose and sneezing. None of us developed a cough.

DH was ill for about 3 days and might have had a slight fever. Unvaccinated teen was tired and she was ill for a bit longer with a sore throat too.

I also sneezed a lot (not unusual), resorted to Lemsip and an early night one day and I think I had a headache bad enough to reach for paracetamol for about 3 days (like the one after my jabs). I vomited at the start (but that might have been because of my nose didn't stop running for a couple of days).

We all carried on working from home...just couldn't leave the house.

We've all had worse colds.

Hope you feel better soon, OP. Stay hydrated, eat lots of fruit and veg and rest of you need to. Buy an oximeter if you feel you chest/breathing getting tight.

Sorry, I thought you had a thread about being high risk for hospitalisation. My mistake.

Marcee · 27/08/2021 13:02

On day 4- 5 now and not needed any paracetamol yet so far. Been taking it regularly the last 3 days

TheSunnySide · 27/08/2021 13:07

@DoItAfraid

I would say watch for days 6-8. I was shocked how ill I felt.

Do you mean 6-8 from exposure or 6-8 from testing positive?

I was pinged on Tuesday as a close contact after attending an event on Saturday evening. I tested positive on Wednesday. Since Tuesday morning I have had a sore throat and blocked nose but now also lost my sense of smell, cough if I have been lying down and today had terrible tummy ache. I am only 5/6 days post exposure and 3 days post testing positive so really not sure when I should expect it to start feeling worse.

I am double jabbed and the worst bit so far has been finding it hard to breathe through my nose at night and then getting anxious.

Bubbublish · 27/08/2021 13:17

This post will hopefully give everyone hope that covid can be beaten even if it becomes serious. Please don't let this scare you. The medical team have a much better understanding of how to treat severe covid and very few people are dying of it now, even people with underlying health conditions. The NHS are amazing and know exactly how to treat covid and anything else you may have.

A time line which may be helpful

My second jab was 11th June.

On 3rd August I had a mild cold,

On 4th August I didn't feel quite right so did a LFT - immediate positive. Ordered PCR

5th August PCR arrived

6th August PCR positive

I became increasingly unwell, lost smell and taste, being sick, temperature of 39.3 was the highest recorded, wasn't eating or drinking. Eventually I couldn't get off the sofa to even put something in the microwave for my son (bless him, he had a bowl of cereal for dinner☹️).

10th August I felt so rotten, my son called 111 and the ambulance came. My oxygen level was very low. I was put on a CPAP machine and given various drugs. The Dr said that the days between 7 - 10 are generally when covid either gets better or gets worse. Sadly for me it got worse. Covid attacked my lungs and I had pneumonia.

I narrowly avoided ICU, I was never unconscious so I knew exactly what was going on. It was a very scary time BUT I came out of hospital 20th August.

No one knows how covid will affect them and most people don't need to be hospitalised.

Please be encouraged that even tho it was touch and go for a while, the amazing medical team helped me recover.

I hope no one goes through what I did but I'm still here to tell the tale.

Listen to your body and is you become very unwell, call for help

Wishing everyone well x

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 27/08/2021 13:45

I’m double jabbed and got it end of June. I was pretty much like you and it didn’t get any worse for me. I think the worst part was the foggy ness and fatigue.

Hi,not to derail this thread but when I went back looking for your thread about being in hospital,I was told it had been removed. Any ideas why?
MummyTo3Beauts · 28/08/2021 19:36

I've tested positive today after a positive lateral flow yesterday. I thought it was just hay fever.

Feels like a head cold. I've felt off for a bout 4 days.

I'm asthmatic so really hoping it doesn't go to my chest!

I've also had 2 doses of the Pfizer.

I had it end of July. Felt like a cold. I never developed a cough and only had loss of taste and smell at the end - otherwise it was sneezing, runny nose and fatigue.

Siameasy · 28/08/2021 21:22

Day 10 I’ve felt fine for a few days now really I have had far worse colds
Initial symptoms fatigue, scratchy throat just felt weird and drained. Body aches
Ongoing-sinus pain, sore eyes and dizzy.
45, female, not overweight , no known health conditions

sorrysaywhatnow · 28/08/2021 21:49

I'm day 4 after my positive LFT and then subsequent positive PCR. Started with a headache and sore throat. Then a full on cold and fatigue. By far the worst has been losing my sense of taste and smell, but
starting to feel generally better now otherwise.
