Outbreak at work. Could’ve been avoided with isolation!!!

Work colleague came in to work last week whilst her husband was at home, positive with Covid.

She was doing daily LFT’s and had been for a PCr test at the beginning of her husbands isolation.

Monday she was in work, Tuesday morning she got a positive LFT.

Yesterday 4 other colleagues have also had positive LFT’s.

Surely it’s got to have been spread by the lady who’s husband had Covid? Perhaps her LFT’s were just late in showing her positive?

I just cannot understand the logic behind not having to isolate when someone in your household is positive.

Thankfully I’m not affected by this as it’s in a different office to me!

It varies, twice my dd has isolated because a friend she was sharing a room with on a trip tested positive, she's not caught covid on either occasion (she's double vaxxed unlike most of her age because she got a spare). Isolating isn't always necessary if you are double vaxxed

My employer has made it clear that no one with a positive case at home should come into the office, but our work can be done just as well from home. I really hope other employers are doing the same

No, like @Howshouldibehave, even if my whole family are positive, I’ll still be expected to be in teaching, putting others at risk of contracting the virus. Plus, I could have numerous children in my class whose parents/whole household are positive, but they can still be in, so I’m at risk of contracting it.

Whole situation with isolating for contacts changing is utterly ridiculous.

Howshouldibehave, LadyPenelope68 I’m so sorry to hear. Sounds completely crazy! That’s why you can’t leave this sort of thing to people and employers “self regulating” - because they don’t.

Isolating isn't always necessary if you are double vaxxed As I highlighted above after a couple of days in an air bnb in a northern city five out of nine of DDs friends tested positive, and all had had a single jab and one was double jabbed. This variant is highly transmissible and seems to be rampant amongst the under 30s in the cities. With that degree of transmission we isolated even though DD was double jabbed. Cases amongst the young who have been out and about are very high around here . Case numbers have climbed already as a result of Boardmasters and again as a result of last weekends festivals, nationally they hit 38000 cases today and as soon as the schools and unis go back and cases get taken to school and home again it will really start to climb. From our experience your complacency is misplaced

Not isolating household contacts will lead to another lockdown, whether official or "naturally induced" one.

@Oblomov21

It's just madness. I can't get my head around it. Why? Just why?
The only thing I can think is this plan was made pre-Delta and our stubborn and stupid PM will not change course to deal with the increased danger.

The UK policy is wrong and will result in far more avoidable deaths and disabilities.
