Sounds like it could be Covid. Can you book in for a PCR rather than doing a lateral flow?

123MothergotafleA · 26/08/2021 08:17

Yes do a PCR,it sounds like Covid.

SkinPaperThin · 26/08/2021 08:32

Yeah I think I will have to. Didn't expect to get the sore arm pit again!! So painful 😩

Lft negative so booked pcr. I find it strange that I have the sore arm pit again. It's really unpleasant. Would be interested to know if this has happened to anyone else. I'm worried that if it isn't covid that the vaccine has damaged my body somehow 😞

I keep getting a sore armpit too and scabs on my head. It’s so unpleasant.
I heard that swollen armpits are part of the side effects (I had Moderna) so I’ve not yet been to the drs.

SkinPaperThin · 26/08/2021 09:21

Sore arm pit months later though? Very odd and concerning if it's vaccine related.

Swollen and painful lymph nodes in your armpit can occur after a different infection too so it's not necessarily covid or related to the vaccine in any way, but sounds like either way you might have a virus of some kind.

JS87 · 26/08/2021 09:48

I had two days of both armpits being swollen and sore just before Christmas so pre vaccines. No one else had any symptoms. I did an antibody covid test in March and it was completely negative so I assume although can’t rule out that it wasn’t covid.

SkinPaperThin · 26/08/2021 09:54

Thank you both, that's reassuring! Stressing here...

I posted something very very similar yesterday and booked a PCR after a negative LFT yesterday afternoon. I also have a armpit lymph nodes (both sides, but primarily right) that started being cranky, on and off, since last Saturday. But it feels exactly like after the first vaccine (I had AZ) just less intense.

whatswithtodaytoday · 26/08/2021 10:12

It's your lymph nodes. They react to infection - you might even have had it before and not thought about it. I often get the ones behind my ear go up when I'm ill, but you have them in your armpits and groin as well.

You might have Covid, you might have some other virus. You feel like you did when you were vaccinated because that's how your body reacts to infection (which is what it sees the vaccine as).

alreadytaken · 26/08/2021 10:31

You have an infection of some kind, your lymph nodes have swollen as they do when you are exposed to an infection. Not everyone gets swollen armpits, you are just one of the unlucky ones.

Hopefully it will not be covid and you will recover in a few days. Rest and plenty of fluids, bit of sunshine if you can safely do so.

SkinPaperThin · 26/08/2021 11:00

I never had an intensely painful left arm pit any other time other than after being vaccinated (Pfizer). Normally if my lymph nodes go up in reaction to a virus it's fairly similar both sides but post Pfizer (both doses) and now it's very noticeably worse in my left arm pit. It was the first noticeable side effect of the vaccine and it was the first noticeable symptom yesterday. I can't feel a massive lump or anything but it is very sore compared to other lymph nodes. Sad

SkinPaperThin · 26/08/2021 11:11

It's worth noting as well that after both doses of the Pfizer I had painful swollen lymph nodes in my left arm pit and left inner elbow for 4 or 5 weeks afterwards before it subsided (jabbed on left side). This is why I'm really worried.

Can you call the doc? It probably isn’t but lump in armpit can be early sign of breast cancer.

SkinPaperThin · 27/08/2021 08:42

Covid test negative at least but still no less worried that the vaccine has done something to my immune system Sad

OP posts:
SkinPaperThin · 27/08/2021 08:43

@GhoulWithADragonTattoo I'm going to call gp today, I can't feel a lump but feel like I need to discuss this with a Dr.

Swollen lymph nodes are an indicator for infection, any infection. There are other common respiratory infections circulating at the moment.
They are also an indicator for some more serious diseases so if they don’t settle down see your GP.?
