Hi there.. my 13yr old has tested positive. I’m booking a pcr now. Who’s contact details do I give as I’m going to have to leave her to go to work (I’m double jabbed and negative).
How does the t and t app and calling service work? Can someone please explain. Thank you for your time.

Did you take a PCR?
I imagine they would want to talk to you rather than a 13 year old

vinDJ · 24/08/2021 20:40

I’m booking one for her tonight for tomorrow. I’m self employed and have a job on tomorrow and I don’t know who’s details to put on

I mean did you take a PCR yourself?

vinDJ · 24/08/2021 20:46

We both did lateral flow. I’m negative but booking pcr for me too as a precaution.

Don't give them a child's details - safeguarding, and they will want to speak to an adult.

WhispersOfWickedness · 24/08/2021 21:54

I think it was under 16s who should have the parent/guardian contact detail on it 👍

HadEnoughOfBears · 24/08/2021 21:55

Don't you have to isolate too until your PCR results come back?

noblegiraffe · 24/08/2021 21:59

No, Had, not if you're taking it because you're a contact.

vinDJ · 24/08/2021 22:02

Thank you for this.. so would they put the tracking app on my phone or hers? How would this work if I’m at work and I’ve left her in bed?!

OP posts:
Comefromaway · 24/08/2021 22:04

They won’t track her phone. They will send the result to whichever email address you use and then if the pcr is positive they will phone and possibly email a form to fill in.

Comefromaway · 24/08/2021 22:05

They will want to speak to an adult when they phone.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/08/2021 22:06

They don't put a tracking app on anyone's phone. The Test and Trace app can be downloaded but I think it's minimum age 16. They just ring you so give them your details, if you aren't available they will just call again the next day. It took 4 days after the positive for them to call me when my 14yo had it.

@vinDJ

'They' don't put an app on anyones phone. The owner of the phone may download the app and use it as its optional.

A person from T&T may phone to speak to an adult

vinDJ · 24/08/2021 22:10

Thank you all for this.. i was worried about them ringing her when I wasn’t there

Seems like they will just ring me to make sure she’s isolating and not ask me to put the app on her phone to check

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 24/08/2021 22:16

T&T have nothing to do with the app. The app is anonymous and works on Bluetooth

Elouera · 24/08/2021 22:23

The app is completely separate to getting covid results. Test and trace will call whatever number was left on file when the test was completed.

If its a child, under 16's number, they will ask to speak to a parent or guardian. If its the adults number, they will be asked to answer questions about their child. Symptoms, where you have been, family members, contacts etc.

Just give your number, and if you can't answer the questions whilst at work, ask them call back at X time when you are home and can ask your DD what her symptoms are.

vinDJ · 24/08/2021 22:35

Ah I see… it’s all a bit of a learning curve for me.
Thank you for the info

They wanted to speak to us when it was our 17yr old that tested positive.
