Feeling anxious about what happens now

I have a big wedding planned for Dec, rescheduled from last Dec.

We had no option to rebook for this summer due to availability.

Feeling very worried about how the next few months will play out... any predictions please?

Well, we can’t predict the future so people will only be stating their opinions. Based on nothing you can really trust because it’s simply impossible to predict these things.

Here’s mine: we’ll be seeing high numbers of cases and slightly higher deaths due to it being end of term, winter and the most vulnerable’s jabs having been given 9/10 months before, so immunity starts to wear off a bit. However, if you’re in the UK, it’s highly unlikely restrictions will be implemented again because no one would actually comply. Can you imagine telling people after 4-5 months to put their masks back on and stay home again? In the UK it won’t work.

@EileenGC thank you, I know no one really knows. Not sure what I'm looking for really, hope probably!

There won't be lockdowns, but people haven't really 'stayed at home' since May 2020 anyway.

The question is will there be more restrictions in winter? Will they have capacity restrictions at mass events like gigs and football matches (or potentially weddings)? Will they go back to table service only in hospitality? Advise to wfh again? Potentially.

I don't think we'll go back into mass lockdown in England. We are already at rates similar to March this year, but there's nowhere near the amount of noise about it in the media.
Covid-19 is a nasty disease, but through-out the pandemic total deaths from it are less than cancer and we don't get sensationalist headlines about that.
We'll become use to it, unless a truly deadly variant emerges.

SpringRainbow · 24/08/2021 18:25

I’m not really sure what will happen to be honest, or what they can even do.

I don’t believe that any further restrictions or lockdowns will be as effective as they were previously as I don’t believe that compliance will be as high. Especially another lockdown.

Where that leaves us if things go horribly wrong is anyone’s guess.

You do realise there's pretty large parts of Not England the UK who are still wearing masks?? 🙄

turnshavetabled · 24/08/2021 20:45

I am in England though. Masks would be fine. Just really hoping we're allowed all our friends and family!

I'm optimistic that the number of cases will be lower from October/November onwards. By then many people will have natural immunity from having been infected previously and even more people will be fully vaccinated. Nobody who gets covid now or has had it recently will get it again this year.

turnshavetabled · 24/08/2021 20:57

@mibbelucieachwell that's my hope
