Does anyone know anything about hallucinations with covid? My db has just been admitted to hospital.

I don’t really just that they’re not an unknown symptom of covid. No idea whether it’s specifically related to fever or another symptom.

You must be worried, is he comfortable do you know?

A friend of mine had hallucinations and was admitted, I don't know more detail apart from that she did fully recover.

Badgerstmary · 24/08/2021 11:42

Thanks. I don’t know much yet. Just that he has fever, cough, headache, exhausted, not eating much for 4/5 days & now hallucinating & has been admitted. Breathing ok.

I'm not sure if it is a direct covid symptom but it can be caused by dehydration. Because he's not been eating properly that may be why.

More than likely he will be put on an IV drip and start to feel better.

Hope he has a speedy recovery

DumplingsAndStew · 24/08/2021 12:04

Can often be caused by dehydration or an untreated infection.

Hope he is doing better soon.

The hospital will be considering everything posted here and have tried and tested treatments for symptoms like these if they’re what’s causing his problems.

Try keep yourself distracted, it’s so hard being able to do nothing but witness events. Do you exercise at all? Try and tire your body and give your mind a break.

Hope he recovers soon.Flowers

In the past I have had hallucinations with a prolonged high fever. Like a pp said, it could be dehydration. Doesn’t happen now, but then again I haven’t had a really bad fever recently either.

Mindymomo · 24/08/2021 14:45

You do get hallucinations when you have a fever. My DS tried to walk up walls when he had a fever and was dehydrated. You imagine all sorts of things when you are like this. I gave my son repeated doses of paracetamol, lots of sipping of water and a cold flannel or towel on him to bring temperature down. It’s quite scary for those watching.

I'm in hospital with covid. Oxygen deprivation does very strange things to your brain. Once admitted (the A&E part is grim), he will get the full treatment protocol that has been developed over last 18 months.

Badgerstmary · 24/08/2021 15:10

Thanks everyone. They have said he needs fluids & X-ray so hopefully fluids will help.

No experience of it with covid but I had hallucinations after the covid vaccination. I had an extremely high temperature for 3 days
